What's amazing about "The Play" isn't just the play itself, but that it followed that amazing drive that Elway lead up the field after converting from 4th and 17.

And that loss was partly responsible for his never going to a bowl game.

I agree. It would have been one of the all-time greats without that ending. That game was a slugfest the entire time between two very big rivals

The Play also wouldn't have been **THAT* special if the band hadn't of run onto the field. It was awesome anyways... but when the band is running out onto the field and the tuba player gets clobbered... haha... that's one for the ages

Stanford actually has in their record books as that game as a win. They will never concede that Cal won that game. They swear up and down that the one guy on I believe the first or second lateral had his knee hit the ground before he tossed it back, also they swear that one of those laterals really was an illegal forward pass as well. The two schools will never agree on who won the game.
