I know that you can do dual monitor setups with a dual port video card, or a single DVI port on a computer.

But can you do multiple desktops with a card with 1 vga port and a monitor splitter cable using VGA. It's the one situation I've never run into.

you can do multiple desktops. that's different than multiple monitors. there's a windows powertoy that can do multiple desktops like linux.

a splitter just splits the same signal. so no.

multiple desktops is what I meant. sorry it's early.

Guy wants to use multiple desktops off his laptop with one of the plasma TV's for a demo. He only has a VGA port on the back. Before I went and got one of the splitters I wanted to make sure.

Thanks.

well you can have multiple desktops but with the splitter, you are still going to be seeing the same desktop on both monitors.

laptops can do dual monitor setups but i don't know if you can show different desktops on different monitors. i think the multiple desktop tool was made for people who only have one monitor.
