I was bored in the metal shop at school, so I decided to make something for the car. I decided that since the Maxima is my car to mess up, I would make some ground effects for it. Anyway, these are made out of 3/32'' zinc coated steel, and then painted with black spray paint. I through these together at 2 hours per side from start to finish. I may pull them off later and fiberglass them to get rid of any of the bumps, and smooth out the sides all togerther. Anyway, compliment of flame on.

The skirts after painting.

The skirt on the car.

Another image of the skirts and how low they are.

The skirts sit about 2.5- 3 inches off the ground.
Doing oil changes are going to be a blast now.

At first I didn't read the text.

I couldn't figure out why you would buy these. My opinion on their looks are different knowing they are home made.

You should patent the idea to slap some on the front of your car with airbags. Your own personal ice scaper.

It took so long, becasue I could only do 20'' at a time. Also, I had to do the middle bend by hand because we don't have the machine to do it for us anymore.

Total cost to me was $13.

Fine fire me, but any thread that makes me scroll sideways to read text usually gets skipped. I read the short comments first then decide if I should read the rest.

Yeah, all he has access to is a small finger brake, though they still have a good shear and a notcher.

You do this in the TED shop, Daryl?

And hell, it is a great start to work with if you wanted to 'glass them to perfection down the road.

The sheet used for this is probably about the same weight if not lighter than urethane or 'glass.

The foglights are factory equipment. They came on the car, but were bent all funky when I rallyXed the car.

The scoop is fully funtional. Function over form. Scoop, filter, MAF, throttle body. Also, all of the car looks better in person, when it is clean, and when better pictures are taken.

They weigh 8lbs per side.

Yes, I did this in the TED shop at the ground floor of POE.

The scoop has been on for about 3 months now. It made a good bit of difference as well. I increased the intake area by 2 sq.in. and decreased the travel from 2 feet down to 8 inches.

I think the scoop looks good.

The skirts would be much better if it didn't look so flat in the paint.

As I have said before, this car is my beater. I have told others that this car is my joke. If I go to any place that has a sticker, then I put it on my car's back windows. I looks retarded, so I get a good chuckle to myself every time I drive the car.

yeah but the scoop on the 240 served a purpose not to melt the master cylinder from the turbo's heat output.

that scoop is just about as good as 'RAM AIR' on a grand am gt

but i like the way it looks. and please get rid of the side skirts, props for making the gutters for the side of your car but it looks way better without them.

oh yeah that snake cage u sold me is doing a good job.

The scoop supplies "colder" air to the engine, and much more effectively. A small little tube behind the headlight used to be the air supply. Now there is a big hole. That is the function that is serves.

I think the skirts look decent. The pictures dont really do it justice.

Are you seeing one or two pictures of the whole car?

I'm seeing 2 pics of the whole car.

I think with some glasswork those skirts would get much better responses. The seams stick out in the pics but I'm sure in person it looks a lot better. I like the scoop too, what kind is it?

toyotafj40s the scoop on your 240 was off a 300zx right?

the scoop of the 240 looked like it was off a 240 by the placement but i think it was out of one of those summit racing mags. the car was ghetto

what about if you angled the front corner (right behind the front tires)?

or gave it some kind of curve or something, just so it isnt a straight 90 degree angle, might smooth out the look a little

I think they made the overall balance (In terms of looks) of the car "off." It comes down in the middle but not the front or rear.

I think you should at least put a homemade front lip on. You could also put on a rear lip that isn't quite as low as the ones on the side and front.

IF I was gonna dick around in the metal shop to make something for my car, I'd probably make a suspension tie bar...or something else to stiffen the chassis.

Maybe the people on here don't realize, but our metal shop is a joke. Tie bars and other such load bearing pieces are not a possible thing to easily make in our shop. These cost me $13, for tape and paint. I am not spending money on this car. I plan on throwing together front and rear valences as well.
Like I have said. This car is my running joke.
