Hey you guys. I was wondering if you guys could give me the nitty gritty on a few teachers.

CSC 116 - Miller
PS 241 - Wehrli
PY 205 - C Ji
REL 298Y - Ahearne-Kroll

Also, if any of you have taken PS 241 or REL 298Y - lemme know if I should drop em if they arent worth the waste.

Thanks!

Carol Miller is a good enough teacher, she likes to go off on a tangent every now and then. I had her for 116 during summer school and it was great. It all really depends upon who the TA is. I have her for 216 now and it's like pulling teeth when it comes to working with the TAs. Just take her, as long as you put some effort into the class there is no reason you shouldn't get an A.

^I agree. Sometimes it seems like the class is a computer history class, which I thoroughly enjoy.

I picked the 116 class with no lab (the one just for CSC majors and all) because I don't like TAs

^The one for Miller or the one for Longo? Dan Longo is a very good teacher. He was my TA for 116 during summer school. I believe the labwork is still expected to be done. Just not in a formal setting. I could be wrong though. The room that both of those sections are being held in is one of the lab rooms, So it would appear that you'll be doing the work during the class. I could ask Dan or Carol about that if you need to know.

I cant say anything about Longo, but Miller has my recommendation.
I had her for 116 and later for 246.

You will not go wrong there, just do put effort into the class. Too many people dont, blow it out the window, and then if they're CSC or ECE get themselves into hell loads of trouble in 216 or 316 by not knowing basic freaking concepts.

millers class is terrible because she requires you to attend

to my knowledge there is not a 116/216 placeout exam

which really , should be required for any class demanding attendance

it just doesnt make sense to waste

A) teachers time
B) students time
C) students money

Alas, the college system is a complete fraud on a multitude of levels.

^ Attendance is not required for Millers class, but she does have in-class exercises that count as 10% of the grade. Also, ALL courses 200 level and below are supposed to take attendance, it's just whether or not the teacher does.

i'd go w/ longo, he was my TA in 116 and was a better teacher than the actual lecturer. and he's a chill guy and will help you out a lot
