My old faithful laptop fan is making evil noises at me.

It still moves air, but it sounds like ASS.

can this be fixed? And i have tried to blow out the fan, but no luck.

and buying a new laptop just isnt an option right now

is it a high pitched noise, grinding noise, whining noise, clicking noise? might be a bad bearing on a fan.

Don't do that while it's on, you might blow dust on the circuts and end up with bigger problems.

sounds like a fan bearing.... if it was the HD it wouldn't be anything but a large flat paperweight by now.... it would be a relatively cheap fix... im gonna go with 'not under warentee anymore' and say send the model number to someone on here that plays with laptops and see if they can find and install a replacement fan for you....

i just stay away from laptop hardware....

I'd have no problem taking it apart and looking at it for you, but getting a replacement fan... Would just have to Google that and see what I could find.

Yeah, open it up and clean it out. I open up laptops at work every single day. They aren't too hard. Just remember where all the screws go.

If that doesn't work, replace the fan, which is sometimes hard or impossible to do without replacing other parts that are permanently attached to it (From what I've seen).
