Microsoft says Xbox 1 games should lose any choppiness when played on 360, but dont buy it for the xbox 1 games.

Unless you want HD graphics, or there is a game coming out now that you MUST have, there's no good reason to get one right away. First gen systems usually have some bugs (and with the 360 being rushed, it wouldn't surprise me), and none of the launch games are too spectacular anyway.

running Halo 2 on the 360 if thats what youre interested in

also, keep in mind if you are getting a 360 and want to play xbox 1 games on it, you either have to buy the $400 bundle or get the $300 bundle + the $100 hard drive, so just go ahead and get the $400 one

"The original Xbox used a hybrid mobile Pentium III/Celeron processor, but for the 360 Microsoft went to IBM and got the rights to a PowerPC core. The move to the PowerPC instruction set meant that there would be no direct binary compatibility with older Xbox titles, but the sacrifice was obviously deemed necessary by Microsoft."

games that are backwards compatible had to be ported onto the new architecture. here's a list of the ones that have been completed so far:

http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/backwardcompatibilitygameslist.htm

they will require a download onto the hard drive. i would imagine that more games are in the works...

Yeah, they are working to get more games compatible but who knows how long that will take. You will either have to download the new software on Live or burn it onto a CD from Microsoft.com.

I'm betting the hackability of the 360 is going be stalled a bit due to it not using x86 hardware. I'll just stick to my regular xbox, not like I play the games anyway. xbmc ftw

^^ I've been wondering about that same thing myself. You know how every 360 comes with that silver verison of Live installed? I kinda wonder if thats not some sort of anti-hacking check kinda like what they tried to do when they first came out with XP.
