5. [SF6 24.P.016.] A thin film of oil (n = 1.11) is located on a smooth, wet pavement. When viewed perpendicular to the pavement, the film appears to be predominantly red (640 nm) and has no component of wavelength 512 nm. How thick is the oil film?
_______nm

6. [SF6 24.P.018.] A transparent oil of index of refraction 1.30 spills on the surface of water (index of refraction 1.33), producing a maximum of reflection with normally incident orange light (wavelength 600 nm in air). Assuming the maximum occurs in the first order, determine the thickness of the oil slick.
___________nm

i dont remember exactly how to do these, but there were plug n chug formulas for exactly what you need in the physics book.

i got number 6....but what wave length do you use for number 5? I misread the answer box and didn't use nm (instead I used um like other problems) and we only have 5 submissions and I've used 4
