Here's an opportunity- look at their current advertisements and look at the audience they target. Think of some ways they could attract different audience segments. Look at the current services they offer for their current audience segment (personal trainers, juice bar, etc.)
Here's a segment you could suggest they target.. the stay at home parent- a good group to target- primarily b/c they would use the gym at less busy times (late morning rather than 6pm when everyone else is getting off of work). What kind of advertising would appeal to them join? Certainly not seeing pictures of these total workout freaks (no stay at home parent is that buff)! Offering babysitting during morning workout classes- Pilates, Yoga. Some spa services would be a nice service offered by Gold's.
