Ok so I am looking to buy a 32" TV, but as I have never actually bought one I don't which brands to go with or stay away from. BTW the TV can be no deeper than 21 5/8".

I am not buying a thin flat LCD TV cause I don't have that kind of money either.

steps in this process:

1) walk around consumer electronics store
2) identify television with good picture and features you want
3) measure depth
4) purchase

if you really want to go nuts add in
3a) consult consumer reports for $4.95 for a monthly subscription to check out models you like
