haha...stupid people...CC had an Onkyo home theater package i've been looking at for $100 off. I called at 8 this morning to see what they had because it was a friday/saturday deal and not one of the 6 hours specials. The guy I talked to said they sold out of everything by 6 this morning and that there probably weren't any left anywhere. So I just walked into the living room, got online, and ordered it for the same price

hahaha... jimb0 i think i was getting into my blue truck right as you were putting the tent back in your car and telling the old people that you had been there since 930 pm... I was out there too, for the laptop, but I "settled" for the Philips 51'' TV.

^^^^ya man i remember seeing you

and this laptop is not shitty (aside from the fact that the 15" display only does 1024x768... disappointing). it was a fantastic deal, and i got a free printer (though its a lexmark and its after rebates) out of it. i'd say this was easily one of the best deals this year.

I went to local small retailers where there were no lines. The people are friendly and I didn't have to sell my soul or my dignity to get in the door.

after I walked into Circuit City.. well not really walked, cuz I was being pushed so much from behind by fuckin derkers that can't listen to store management..

anyways.. after i went into Circuit City, the place smelled like SHIT within 10 minutes of opening.. I've never seen so many Indians and Orientals running pointing at their ads and screaming random jibberish that no one could understand.

yes, bad experience, never will do BF again.

Its what happens when the media steps in and decides to promote BF. That laptop in Walmart is the prime example of what happens, people freakin going nuts and running over each other.

picked that up online today...don't see how any of those black firday laptops were too much better than it. even if they were, was the improvement over this one worth freezing your nuts off?

^my deal was definitely better than that. sure, i'd say it was worth freezing my nuts off for one night. but yeah you definitely won out in not having to deal with the complete retail failure that was the CC computer department that morning

turns out i'm going to end up not spending a dime for AOL. i called today to immediately cancel my account, and they told me since i'm on roadrunner i can just transfer my AOL account to them and not pay a cent. of course as soon as i confirm this with TWC i'm going to cancel it immediately afterwards anyway. it's a little early to call this one a done deal, but i can't help but get excited at the prospect of spending $199+tax total on this laptop.

Dude, make sure you read the terms and agreements crap that came with buying the laptop. Make sure CC doesn't have the right to charge your CC# if you cancel the AOL agreement.

yeah i have a feeling something is not going to work with this, though i explained it fully and honestly to the AOL billing rep and two TWC billing reps.

edit: just called CC, they are telling me that it's nothing off their backs, AOL provided the $250 instant rebate, and that there was simply a miscommunication in the ads (they should have required that people at least sign up for the dial-up option or someting of the sort). there is no obligation on the side of CC, this is all on AOL. so this will turn out one of two ways:

1)I will be off the hook for $180 from what the manager at CC called a "loophole"
2)I will get screwed and have to pay $250 because AOL/CC fucked up

called aol a second time, this time speaking with someone with more experience. he talked to his supervisor, who said that they found out about this loophole this morning, and that they blocked all requests afterwards. because i was given a confirmation # for the bind, the supervisor said i was home free. turns out i was only one of a few people who got in under the wire, and i was assured i'm not going to be penalized in any way. instead, time warner is making all the payments on my account until cancelled (which i plan to do soon).

so yep, $199+tax laptop.

Perlith - i was in that CC line... crazy, i was 15th in line to checkout and it took 1 hour - that's one thing i absolutly hate about CC is their checkout process, i swear 80% of the wait time is them asking for your phone number, home address verification, and doing "price checks" for people...

^if the cashiers are smart at CC, there is an "opt out" button to skip getting your name, address, etc... most of the time. But if you purchase a warranty, then they have to get that info

orrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr you can just have friends that still work at the Circuit City when I did - ring up two of the 51'' Philips on a ticket and press save, go to McDonald's and get breakfast, then come back to no line at all and purchase your televisions.

didn't get that laptop, but me and my dad both got TV's.. I showed up around 4:15 and then walked up to the door with my dad right as they opened it.. had someone scream, "jumping in line is cool!!!" I laughed and let the durka durka's push me thru the door.

Management deserves to be shot if they put an inexperienced cashier on any of the registers on Black Friday. I've found that ~90% of the time (in general) it's not the cashier who is stupid, its the customer and/or computer. CompUSA/CircuitCity both took like 3 minutes each just to print out the receipts/rebate forms.

On a different note ... sending off roughly $400 in MIR this morning

Prospero - sorry if i didn't make it clear in my post, but I was specifically talking about the people who went in at 5 in the morning, stood in line and delt with all the shit of BF for an item that was available online. I had actually looked online the night before and they had the price up already, I didn't go ahead and get it because I didn't see a "pick up in store" option on it and wanted to see if i could just go in whenever on friday and get it. Turns out when I ordered it because I was it was sold out that they did have the pick up option for Cary, but even if they didn't they had free delivery.

What suprised me was when I was in WalMart)Mass(, the line for the lay-away was wrapped around the back of the store, but the regular checkout lines were relatively normal for a busy day.
