exactly^... oregon has done nothing wrong,, we know that... only losing to the best team for the past 3 years... but the BCS at large bids demand a huge fan following... you think the oregon fans are willing to travel more than ohio state fans??? do you think they have more fans than ohio state or notre dame??? no... and the bowl wants the money

Slack 10? How many other conferences have three teams in the top 12 of the BCS? None. You are the perfect example of someone who thinks he knows football, but just dismisses PAC10 football because you never watch the games.

Exactly. They have 3 ranked teams #1, 8, and 11. The ACC will have prolly 2 ranked teams after yesterday. Virginia Tech and Boston College wow #5 and #21. Some people just never realize that the Pac-10 is as good as these other major conferences.

Notre Dame has beaten ONE ranked team and TWO teams with winning records.

why, exactly, do you think taht Miami won't be ranked in the newest polls?

and what did Clemson do that'll get them knocked out of the AP?

Yeah mistake by me. 4 teams that are ranked for ACC: V Tech, Miami, and two lowely ranked teams in BC and Clemson. Just making a point that the Pac-10 is just as good as the GREAT ACC.

And yeah give it to Oregon please. Give it so people can see their ugly ass uniforms.

not gonna happen for a variety of reasons

a)they play in the pac 10, and regardless of what you think, nobody cares about or respects the pac 10
b)why in the hell would they take oregon over notre dame or ohio state
c)in a perfect world we could prove that oregon is barely a top 15 team

Notre Dame looked a hell of a lot better against USC than Oregon did. Notre Dame should get the nod strictly based on the number of fans that will turn out for a bowl game.

SOS SOS SOS

can't dispute the SOS

OSU has played an arguably much harder schedule than the Ducks. ND, not so much, but then again, there is that USC game point spread argument above ^

I'm a little bitter ND gets the favorable treatment, especially when they lost to MSU, Oregon has no losses vs 'cupcakes'.

You have to chalk it up to them being Notre Dame, and their fan following though. Money is too important, hell its what will get us to a bowl game this year.

^^ you shouldn't have to chalk it up to notre dame's fanbase... the fanbase doesn't play on the field, the fanbase doesn't win or lose the games, so why should the fanbase have ANYTHING to do with whether or not Notre Dame gets to play in a more prestigious bowl game...

it's pathetic that it's even a factor in a BCS game's decision

OSU has a much harder schedule? Which one was it that put them over the top? Miami Ohio? San Diego State? Indiana? Illinois? In fact, you only have two quality wins - Michigan and Iowa, both of who are in the #20-25 range right now. Get real dude - you're another east coast blinders boy. I'm not saying that Oregon was that much better or worse in SOS, but you are smoking crack if you think OSU won any huge games this year.

^^ it's all about who you lost to...

Oregon - USC (BCS team)
OSU - Texas, Penn State (BCS teams)
Notre Dame - USC, Michigan State (one bcs team and one losing team)

way to go on not beating a team that tried to give you a win. Oklahoma would have choked as usual if your quarterback didn't love to throw into coverage.

i just got back from the game and i have to say that Oregon has the worst fans i have ever seen

they talked mad shit before the start and half of them left at half time

OU fans on the other hand were very friendly and nice

I sat in the Oregon section and some jackasses were throwing shit at OU fans

I find it really hard to believe that anyone can be using strenght of schedule as an argument against Notre Dame. Notre Dame is a team that EVERY year has one of the hardest preseason schedules of all teams. You say Notre Dame has beaten only one ranked team? Perhaps as of now, but keep in mind that they beat 3 teams that were ranked at the time (Pitt, Michigan, and Purdue) and out of the 12 teams they play, 7 will have been ranked at one time (including the #1, #3, and #4 teams in the nation).

In addition, some of you are throwing out the game to Michigan State as a horrible loss. I can tell you for certain it was anything but that. To Michigan State (and just about every team that Notre Dame plays on an annual basis) the game is a rivalry. Like many, they loathe Notre Dame. That means the players and fans get hyped up for it and it is seen as one of the biggest games of the year, regardless of whether Notre Dame is 10-0 or 0-10. As a matter of fact, for as many people on these boards who LOVE to point out that Duke is a rivalry game every year we play shitty against them, I would expect a lot of people to be on the "rivalry bandwagon".

But to Notre Dame, it's really not as rivalry, it's just another game. Because let's face it, it is impossible to get pumped up for every game like you do against a true rival. Plus, if you recall, Michigan St. was 4-0 at one point and ranked #11. Sure, they had a couple close losses in the ensueing weeks to Michigan and Ohio State which sent their season into a downward spiral, but I can promise you Michigan State is no pushover. In fact, I would MUCH prefer to play Oregon or any Pac-10 team (other than USC of course) than the Michigan St. team that was playing the first month and a half of the season.

That was a FeebleMinded post. I agree that every year Notre Dame's preseason schedule looks great...until the season plays out. Why does Notre Dame have a hard preseason schedule every year, and every year it ends up not being that tough? Because they love to schedule the big name schools that are consistently overrated in the preseason. Tennessee and Michigan seem to be in the top 5 preseason every year, even though they usually don't deserve it. I told my Notre Dame friend this before the season, and after the season he finally had to acknowledge it. I don't see how you judge a team's strength of schedule by early season rankings. If you beat a "top 5" team that finishes with a mediocre or even losing record, it's absolutely silly to claim top 5 victories.

That having been said,

I think ND beating Pitt is aggrivating to me. I think Pitt was ranked 25(?) when ND beat them and the next week ND is ranked 23. How the fuck do they leapfrog that high? Not to mention, Pitt lays an egg to OHIO, not Ohio State but Ohio, the next week. ND also lost to Mich State (which was spanked by Northwestern and a bunch of other teams). Fuck ND.

Here is a link of the final AP Polls since 1936: http://homepages.cae.wisc.edu/~dwilson/rsfc/history/APpolls.txt

In the past 10 years, only 9 teams have finished in the top 5 more than once. Those teams being USC, Oklahoma, Ohio St., Miami, Florida, Tennessee, Florida State, Nebraska, and Michigan. Looks kinda familiar eh? Also, in these past 10 years, Notre Dame has played these opponents a combined 27 times (not including this year). Additionally, as if your argument has to be disproven anymore, Michigan has benn ranked in the AP Top 25 every year for the last 10 years, and Tennessee has been there almost as much at 7 of 10 times.

Yes, you are correct. Nobody at Notre Dame has a magical crystal ball that can tell who will be ranked where at the end of the season. I am sure if they did, they would schedule those teams. But alas, no crystal ball or other similar device exixts, so they do what they can and schedule games aginst teams that are "supposed" to be good. Of all the arguments against Notre Dame, I have never heard that they intentionally schedule teams that are ranked with the assumption that they will not be good later on. That argument, perhaps, is the dumbest one I have ever heard. At least the bullshit about them drawing more fans and bowls being a money issue have some validity to them.

I'm sorry that something as trivial as facts have gotten in the way of your argument. I know it is much easier to make things up about ambiguous friends and think you're clever by calling a post of mine "feebleminded" (by the way you're the first person to EVER post that... seriously). In the future, I would seriously consider doing a little research before spouting off on a topic you obviously have no clue about.
