at this point we should get invited ahead of fsu because they sucked at the end but i doubt we will because were not an exciting team to watch

Navy got the at-large invite as soon as they got their 6th win. We traveled 30k to Houston and about 20k to San Fran the last two years, and with it being a new bowl in a Navy city, they really wanted Navy. They even increased the payout to compete closer with the Liberty Bowl (who was also interested in Navy) and gave them an automatic option to return to the bowl game in 2008-2010 assuming Navy makes the six wins in one of those seasons.

check out collegefootballpolll.com and go to the bowl predictions/schedule and they have us playing south florida in the meineke car care bowl in charlotte. it wouldnt be that lavish of a trip but it would be a great chance to take a ton of fans to get behind the team for a 7th win which would be a long way from when we were 2-4.

You can pencil in Auburn for the Capital One Bowl and South Carolina for the Outback. If Georgia loses to LSU, they are going to the Peach and Bama goes to the Cotton. Florida goes to the Independence. If Georgia beats LSU, Bama to the Peach and LSU to the Cotton.

I heard this morning on the AM that the Pac-10 did not have enough bowl eligable teams and that the emerald bowl was going to take an ACC school.

Also explain the below situation to me, why does it matter what SEC school goes to the Peach Bowl and how it affects what ACC team goes??

1.) You only need one local team.

2.) Georgia and Georgia Tech just played each other. Part of going to a bowl is playing someone different.

3.) The Peach Bowl would probably say that Georgia is more appetizing for them than Georgia Tech.

4.) Clemson-Georgia would be a good game.

You have to realize most people in GA have a hard on for UGA...they're the same kind of walmart fans that UNC has, but you don't notice it as much because morons can go to UGA, so the non-grads don't stand out

In fact, looking at the front page of the paper here today, it says the UGA "whipped" GT this weekend.

Yea, I saw that last night, Stanford losing to ND in the last minute might have helped us get to a bowl game.

Sadly enough, I think that's also our best fit.

No. The bowl ties are simply what choice they get.

Gator gets 2nd choice (took a 4th place State team in 2002 over the other two ahead of us, for example). I guess technically, Gator gets first choice after the BCS, for what it's worth.

The Music City Bowl in Nashville, Tenn., emerged as another postseason possibility for N.C. State on Monday, joining the bowls in Boise, Idaho, and Charlotte as Wolfpack suitors. But State may not learn its destination this week as bowls await the outcome of Saturday's ACC Championship Game.
Music City executive director Scott Ramsey called State athletics director Lee Fowler Monday to tell him the Pack (6-5, 3-5 ACC) is one of three ACC teams the bowl is considering.

The Dec. 30 bowl also is looking at Virginia (6-5, 3-5) and Georgia Tech (7-4, 5-3) to play a Big Ten opponent.

The Music City Bowl has a tie-in with the Southeastern Conference but the SEC has a shortage of teams eligible for bowl play. The Music City also begins a tie-in with the ACC next season.

"Winning four of its last five, we'd catch a team with a lot of momentum," Ramsey said of State in an interview. "Geographically, the western part of North Carolina is within 500 miles of Nashville, and there are direct flights out of Raleigh."
The San Francisco-based Emerald Bowl -- another game with an at-large bid available for an ACC team -- also is considering State, Virginia and Georgia Tech, according to its executive director, Gary Cavalli.

But neither the Emerald or Music City will get priority to select an ACC team over six other bowls.

The Pack's list of bowl possibilities already included the Dec. 28 MPC Computers Bowl in Boise and the Dec. 31 Meineke Car Care Bowl in Charlotte.

Fowler, Ramsey, Cavalli and Will Webb, executive director of the Meineke Car Care Bowl, all said they did not expect State's bowl destination to be settled before the league title game between Virginia Tech and Florida State in Jacksonville, Fla., helps settle the pecking order.

Saturday's winner gets a Bowl Championship Series bid. The Gator Bowl gets the first pick among the seven other teams eligible for bowl play. The Gator Bowl is unlikely to select the loser of the ACC title game for a return trip to Jacksonville, Fla.

The Gator and the Peach Bowl in Atlanta get to select the teams they want, and then the Champs Sports Bowl in Orlando, the Meineke Car Care Bowl and the MPC Computers Bowl work out their teams with the conference.

"We were hoping there would be some definition at this point, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen," Webb said.

Fowler said he told staff to begin preparing, for logistical reasons, as if the Wolfpack would land at the MPC Computers Bowl.

"That's the one that will take the most work and most preparation with setting up charters, transportation and all that stuff," Fowler said."



--Notice that these lower bowls are NOT considering Boston College. I think BC has a very real shot at the Peach Bowl if the Peach Bowl can get Georgia.

My comments..

Peach bowl could've been a BCS matchup. This one will be great to watch.

I'm really excited about the whole Penn State / Florida State matchup. At least the BCS got the matchups to look good this year. (Not like last year where undefeated Utah and Auburn didn't even play each other..wtf)

Gator bowl will also be interesting.

I think Boise St will give BC a challenge

Holiday bowl...sorry for Oregon, but if they don't beat a mediocre Oklahoma, then everyone will praise the BCS for making sure they stay out. Oregon better win it.

If the Gator Bowl gets 2nd pick, why is the payout less for the Gator Bowl compared to the Peach Bowl (I think it was something like 1.6 for Gator and 2.5 for Peach)
