Will time warner still come out and put in roadrunner if you have direct tv or dish network.

Or do you have to have their cable tv to get their broadband

rr costs a bit more if you don't have tv service with them

like 50 a month instead of 40 or something like that

Yeah, look at DSL for your area. See if they offer 3 megabit dsl and for what price. My parents got it for 39.95 a month and just stuck with that and direct tv. Won't touch anything timewarner with a 10 foot pole after dealing with them for 6 years.

So... if you're happy with direct tv and don't have an HDTV yet... stick with them and look at DSL or just pay a little more for cable internet.

If you've got an HDTV though... it might be worth looking at timewarner's packages just because I hear they have the best deal for getting lots of HD content and a decent DVR and such. I still don't like them, but it could be worth checking out.
