Hey guys, need a little refresher. I haven't worked with 2k in a while and I can't remember how to set up the computer to accept a simple DHCP connection. The thing is I can't even find my network device in device manager. What category is it under? Also, specific instructions would be great b/c this laptop's lcd is cracked and its hard to see things. Thanks 12/3/2005 2:33:30 AM |

probably don't have the correct driver. win 2000 doesn't come with many drivers. download the driver for win 2000 from the manufacturer.

The laptop is a dell inspiron 2500. It has a nic/56k combo and I downloaded and installed the only driver from dell's website that fits that description. The only thing in DM listed as unstilled is an audio controller. I don't even see a tab that says network adapters. 12/3/2005 2:36:41 PM |

Try getting the chipset driver as well.
In the device manager there should be a network adapters category. If not or nothing is listed under there you don't have the right driver yet. 12/3/2005 8:37:42 PM |
