Hey guys, need a little refresher. I haven't worked with 2k in a while and I can't remember how to set up the computer to accept a simple DHCP connection. The thing is I can't even find my network device in device manager. What category is it under? Also, specific instructions would be great b/c this laptop's lcd is cracked and its hard to see things. Thanks

probably don't have the correct driver. win 2000 doesn't come with many drivers. download the driver for win 2000 from the manufacturer.

The laptop is a dell inspiron 2500. It has a nic/56k combo and I downloaded and installed the only driver from dell's website that fits that description. The only thing in DM listed as unstilled is an audio controller. I don't even see a tab that says network adapters.

Try getting the chipset driver as well.

In the device manager there should be a network adapters category. If not or nothing is listed under there you don't have the right driver yet.
