in about 2 weeks. i still don't have a job, and i really don't want to wait tables/bartend again (but i will if i have to) i'm getting a little stressed about the money situation. where would be the best place to apply? (restaurant/bar wise)

or if anyone knows of a m-f 9-5 type job...

that's the problem...i don't want to work for the government

it would be 6 months-1 year before i actually got hired after applying anyway...so i still need something sooner than that

i don't think i'd like working there

I know a few people that work at Trip's on Wade Ave. They appear to like it...at least they say so.

yeah i know one that works there too..and my boyfriend used to.

truth is, though, if i work at a restaurant, i'd rather work at one that does a little more business. nothing against tripp's. i'm just used to a little faster pace.

sorry, you keep helping and i keep shooting your ideas down
when it comes down to it, i'll work wherever i can
i guess i'm just being picky cause i'm not actually there yet

well, unless you plan to work with the un, us goverment or un stuff are some of the only open jobs that use your degree as far as i know. You may want to see a temp agency, as well as posting a resume on monster and trianglehelpwanted.com

^yes
and when i started my degree i did think i wanted to work for the gov. but i've since changed my mind. i know there's stuff out there (a lot of our grads don't work for the gov--i don't know where they work though), i just don't know where to look

work for the gov't for a few years is my suggestion

see if you can get a job on the Hill

then you write your own ticket after that

no lie

you oucld alwasy talk to SAS or another big name company and see if you can get an internship or the like. Any job that can go on a resume is better than nothing.

You could also try NC government jobs. This might keep you in the area.

There's a few "consulting" and research firms in RTP that do international commerce type stuff...Triangle Economic Research (TER), comes to mind but I know there's a few others. Accenture has stuff in the area that might work I think. It's government but you might look at the EPA as well, depending on what they have available you can prob start sooner than 6mos to a year.

http://www.ter.com/TER/
http://careers3.accenture.com/careers/global/
search USA jobs site for EPA jobs.

i lived out by knightdale/wake forest for 16 years

then durham for 2 years

then raleigh for 6 years

so basically i lived there for the first 24 years of my life

and i didn't hate it, but i didn't think it was anything to write home about. then i moved to quantico, VA (sucks) and pensacola, FL (mostly sucks...beach and warm weather are nice), and realized that raleigh is a pretty damned decent place to live.

if you can't get women in raleigh and attending NCSU, you are gonna be shit outta luck when you get to the real world. my game increases about tenfold when i'm back home in raleigh.

I remember you telling me that you wanted a place that's a little nicer than the norm. You might want to try Angus Barn or another restaurant on Glenwood South.

You were talking about m-f 9-5 jobs...you might want to apply with NCSU University Temporary Services. Most of the jobs 'round here are m-f 8-5, so you might be able to get some sort of short-term administrative/secretarial position.
