thought the Alpha head was by far the most distance out of any head....not sure if its legal though, cant remember because i dont use it, still a fan of my Big Bertha...straight and true...280-300 yards consistently

Haha, yeah Titleist must be so great for Phil to go to Callaway.

But seriously I agree that Nike is not that great. They should stick to football, basketball, etc.

If you are looking for a great driver, Bang golf makes one hell of a big stick. I bought one about 4 months ago and i hit it further and straighter than ive ever done before. Easily picked up 25 yards off the tee if not more on average.

I have the Bang-o-matic driver head

Titleist drivers are by far the best...you're wasting your time and money with anything else. They're the most durable, best feeling, best looking, and long enough. I've had the 975D and 983K, and they are by far better than anything i've hit (well the D is outdated now, but you get my point), and I know people that still hit the J and it still has its pop.

I always felt like the nike drivers...or all of their clubs for that matter...had screwed up weighting. IDK...thats just my opinion and if you're driver shopping I would go for something a little better like Titleist or Taylor Made(well the R7) if you're gonna spend the money.

I work at a golf store, and after hitting all of the drivers there the G5, SQ and new Cleveland 460 TI are the longest drivers out right now.

TaylorMade is introducing the R7 425 on Friday. I have hit it and it consistantly shorter just like the old R7.

The SQ is worth the money if you dont mind the looks. If you do, the tour head of the SQ would be more appealing. It kinda follows the same theory as the 905 S and T...being a smaller yet deeper clubface.

Titleist is not the best driver maker anymore. There have been many drivers in the last year that have passed the 983 and the 905 is a piece of shit.

best driver for the money is the nicklaus airmax ml...it's great for the price...i got one used for like $130 and i love it...

http://www.rankmark.com/drivers/05-11drivers-3.asp it's tied for #2 for 10-20 handicaps and much cheaper than the others

"The Nicklaus AIRMAX ML still perform exceptionally well for players with higher swingspeeds, while delivering added performance benefits to those with lower swingspeeds."

I would disagree, but yeah the 905 isnt very good.

If you take into account looks, feel, acuracy, and distance, the 983 kills all. Sure there may be some that go farther or are more acurate, but overall its tough to beat it. I personally just think a lot of other drivers look like shit, even though they are popular. That probably affects the way you hit it too though.

While we're on the topic...what does everyone think about the Ping G2? I havent played much golf since this summer, but it was popular as hell earlier this year. I personally didnt like it, though people I knew playing it were creaming themselves over it.

Listen to me, Randy. It doesn't matter what you look like on the outside, whether you're white, or black, or Sasquatch even, as long as you follow your dream, no matter how crazy or against the law it is. Except for Sasquatch. If you're a Sasquatch, the rules are different.

you can get a good head on a driver anywhere, but all that really matters is the shaft, it's gotta be fit to your swing....loft kinda matters too

^^you're stupid

If you really suck, no, looks dont matter.

If you're really really good, no, looks dont matter.

For the average player, looks has a lot to do with confidence. If you know anything about golf at all, you know that confidence affects your play more than any other aspect after fundamentals. If a club looks wierd, the golfer starts thinking about the club instead of the shot.

You obviously dont know jack about golf, so think before you post.

guess i touched a sore spot. look, if the way a club looks makes a difference in your confidence then great, use a cool looking club. I just don't see the average joe being more concerned about the look of the club over the feel or "fit"

They do trust me. All of the handicapers between 10-30 want something that look good. We sold 20 Ben Hogan Big Ben drivers and I would be willing to bet 10 of them was because the guy thought they looked so nice. Looks has a lot to do with it. Golf takes confidence. You have to see the shot to hit it.

haha i could care less about how my clubs look as long as they get the job done like it should be, shoot i had the option in a tournament this summer to win a new set of irons...instead i said take them back and give me the money they cost...I could care less, i will keep my beat up ones for now till they need to be replaced.

i'm just saying it matters for a lot of people

For example...oversized irons are supposed to be easier to hit, right? We all know that. I personally cant play with them. I hate the way they look, and most of them dont set up right for me. I've played with Hogan Apex Plus blades since my sophmore year in high school. My dad has a set of big berthas, and I cant hit them worth a damn. Now some of it has to do with the offset, but I think its more mental than anything.

Is that club really doing that well? I heard it was a decent club, but the G2 was killing its sales. I had a friend work at carolina custom this summer in winston-salem say they sold like 3 all summer.

yea i understand, the normal person would rather have looks over performance or a package of the two...i know exactly what you mean but for guys like me that play alot, we could care less as long as the grid slots are still deep and i can get response im ok

btw is rumor correct that callaway bought out top flite?

Callaway = microsoft....evil haha

Eh, I play a lot(well not durring school), and want the combo of something that performs and looks good. I'll sacrafice a little distance for some accuracy, but I want the club that gives the best performance that still looks good.

Chris you play golf? We should play sometime...we won that Captain's Choice Tournament back home with -16 (mainly Dustin and another guy though)...

The club looks pretty sweet, but I don't like all the yellow...
