I know what significance today holds in terms of history, but anyone that looks at this thread and doesn't know could easily find it in 5 seconds with google.

Probably a lot of people know that Pearl Harbor day is the 7th of December, but most of those people might not realize it immediately when it rolls around every year. It's not one of those things you look forward to all year every year, but if you're writing the date on a sheet of paper or something, it suddenly hits you. 12/7/2005 3:57:45 PM |

It was really odd and neat to watch my mom talk to my son at lunch the weekend after Sept. 11. She was his same age when Pearl Harbor happened. He was astonished that the US had been through such hell before, but at the same time, since we were still here, he knew he (and all of us) could survive it and move on. 12/7/2005 7:31:08 PM |

well
its a little much to say 100's of military personnel dying is as tought to deal w/ as 1000's of civilians dying.
and everybody here knows what the date signifies, it just isnt important anymore
are we supposed to stop and mourn for people who died 60 yrs ago?
i mean, i dont think people even do that much for 9/11 anymore

stupid huh....so u think a day that is set apart to honor more than 2,300 Americans that were killed and 2,000 wounded. A day that ultimatly led us into World War II which took the lives of over 500,000 American soldiers.
what an idiot

like most holidays it is something that is historically important but really doesnt mean much for most ppl each year. if we remembered every important date that got us to where we are today, our year would be all holidays. 12/7/2005 11:53:11 PM |

I can see Pearl Harbor Navy Base from my living room, and I didn't even realize the significance of today until I saw this thread. 12/8/2005 4:57:44 AM |

I'm not really sure I'd admit that. 12/8/2005 4:59:48 AM |

Is it really considered a holiday though? Aside from maybe some special documentries on TV and maybe some news articles, it doesn't really set itself apart from something like Veteran's Day or Thanksgiving when banks are closed and most people don't have to work. 12/8/2005 7:36:50 AM |

More people than that are killed EVERYDAY.

WTF does this have to do with a war that happened decades ago?
But I always celebrate the death of american soldiers. I hope more of them die. Pawns of an evil empire.
