so I bought this new computer with MS Office 2003 installed in it. but when I try to run
MS Word, it asks me for a product key. I don't have that!
How could I get such a key so I can get this thing running?

Sounds like it's a trial version. You have to buy the product key to activate it (basically meaning you have to buy Office). I would ditch Microsoft Office if I were you and download OpenOffice. It does all of the same stuff Msft Office does and it's free.
