...but they'll start pulling scholarships soon
They're still in good standing with like 15 uncommitted players. 12/13/2005 10:22:07 AM |

State just got their 9th commitment from a defensive back down in Florida. Not highly ranked, but has offers from some pretty big boys... Auburn, Tenn., Ole Miss, Wisconsin, etc.
There are a ton of these type of kids in FL who go unranked because they never get scouted by the website guru's and all, but they can play some ball.
His name is Jordan Delegal, welcome to the Pack. 6'1" 190 CB/SS 12/13/2005 1:04:43 PM |

Yep.
Thier problem isn't the 85 limit, it's the 25 per year limit. Last year they cut 3 loose the last week before signing day... and the way Bunting won't allow commitments to take thier other visits.... the kid was just screwed.
That's gonna catch up with him. Soon.12/13/2005 1:14:53 PM |

^ I can't believe he does that shit with out some type of penalty from the NCAA. Bunting is straight fucking some kid's future up for his own gain and there is nothing done about it. I bet the reason he won't let commitments take official visits elsewhere is because he realizes they'll pull an AJ Davis on his fat ass. 12/13/2005 3:52:17 PM |

I'm in winston-salem right now, and word is that Hickman isnt going to be a fullback/runningback. Apparently, he's been playing some linebacker at Hargrave, and thats what we're recruiting him as. I dont know how much truth there is to that, but thats word around town.

I would love to see the Pack run an I-formation, but I just don't see it happening with our o-line and Trestman at the helm. We don't have much use for a fullback in our offense. 12/13/2005 5:50:50 PM |

We haven't had much use for a FB because we haven't had one. Reggie Davis didn't want to move to RB. Anthony Hill looked good at the position, but he is clearly not a FB. Hickman and Bedics will compete for the FB job next year. 12/13/2005 6:06:46 PM |

From everything I've heard we're recruiting him as a fullback... and he'll probably start from day 1. I've seen a lot of folks asking if he'll play LB, but from everything I've seen we're wanting him at FB.
Dunno... he has the measurables to play either, but according to the mods on Packpride, he's a straight-up FB recruit.

With the Trestcoast system, well finally be able to utilize a fullback. We haven't with the other systems we've ran12/13/2005 6:19:23 PM |

Bunting has obviously used some shady tactic's as far as pulling scholarships in his era. He and CTC take completely different paths to land recruits. CTC encourages them to take all visits, and enjoy the recruting process regardless if they've committed to us, taking the pressure off the kid, and they relate to that IMO. Bunting wants a commitment, and he wants it NOW, and for the kid to quit taking OV's, looks desperate to to young impressonable guys, and me too, for that matter. However, Bunting is not stupid, he creates outs for himself with terms like "conditional scholarship" which is unethical IMO. That RB's mother last year was quoted as saying "We'll just have to pick up the pieces and go from here" after hearing UNC no longer had a schoalrship on the table for her son days before signing day. UNC and Bunting's response was something to the effect of the kid needing to commit in a limited time frame or no offer, and his taking other visits angered Bunting, enough to yank his offer.
if we can land Schaeffer, it would be HUGE. This is the biggest recruit in several years to me.
PS- AJ davis never really committd to UNC, his dad did, AJ was really open the whole time. 12/13/2005 6:40:33 PM |

The funny thing is that Bunting only does that to "tweener" offers. If it's a superstar that does that.. he's fine... he won't pull his offer. You didn't see Bunting gripe at Hardesty for visiting UT last year did you? Nah, it's only the expendable ones

That was Bryan Payton... kid ended up at Indiana.

Quote from his coach: ""UNC said they had two scholarships at that position and had to make room for a scholarship," said FUMA head coach John Shuman. "We'll just have to pick up the pieces from here. We hope that we'll still be able to place Bryan somewhere."
It wasn't a "conditional offer". The "condition" was that RB Richie Rich, a much more talented player, decided to verbal with UNC and Bunting had to cut one of the others loose to make room. That's the only condition there was.12/13/2005 7:16:22 PM |

Speaking of Bunting's coaching tactics,I believe I heard something about Bunting telling Tony Baker that NC State was in trouble with theNCAA for a violation or something like that.
I saw that on the N & O and apparently TWW before Baker committed here. 12/13/2005 7:38:02 PM |

if we get brent, teams can no longer stack the line against us, and tb and ab would have some holes for once. they would also respect his arm too 12/13/2005 8:27:23 PM |
