Although, a law was passed to allow the possesion of a specific amount of marijuna within the city of Denver, is it safe to assume that the sell and deliver of marijuna there is legal as well? 12/20/2005 5:50:39 PM |

So, is this law encouraging the sell and deliver of marijuna? My reasoning for this thought is that since this law allows a signifcant amount of marijuna to be possessed, which in turn would cause dealers to have to obtain more supply to meet its new, and most likely much higher, demand than normal, would this cause a higher trafficking fequency of the drug to the city? Potential byproducts of this would include higher crime rates, with more arrests, a need to appropiately staff its local government to process crime, a way to pay for all of that, higher taxes, and unhappy people. Of course, this is all speculation. 12/20/2005 6:05:54 PM |

This is the first law of its kind making general possession of marijuana legal, but it draws attention to a growing body of city and state laws that take a markedly different stance on marijuana than do federal laws." |
I'd say that searching for your answer would be faster and would lead to more correctness than asking tww
anyway, it looks like sale is still illegal. Also, you can still get in trouble with state and federal authorities.12/20/2005 6:54:21 PM |

The denver law is a city ordinance. The state and federal laws still apply meaning you can be prosecuted. (just highly unlikely by the city cops) 12/21/2005 2:07:17 PM |

Actually, legallizing marijuana would probably reduce the crime rate, at least in the short term. You see, it would bankrupt any illegal (and thus violent) gangs because they would be unable to compete in either price or quality with Wal-Mart.
In the long term, marijuana use would eventually climb, potentially increased rates of DUI and highness related crimes. 12/21/2005 10:25:32 PM |
