seattle vs. new england
new england is on the rise again with everyone back from injury plus i got a bias towards them cuz im from massachusetts
seattle has been pretty dominant all year but a little shaky against easy opponents like tennesse and san fran i think they'll beat out the bears and giants for the NFC title 12/21/2005 1:07:02 AM |

Carolina won't make it. Way too many weaknesses on that team. Tampa probably doesn't have much chance either.
I hate the Giants, but I think they are primed for a run at the title.
If the Chargers can sneak into the playoffs, they could make a lot of noise in the AFC. So could the Steelers, but 1 of those 2 teams won't make the playoffs.
The AFC is wide open.
I'm gonna go with NY vs Indy, unless SD makes the playoffs. In that scenario, I'm going with NY vs the Chargers. 12/21/2005 1:26:15 AM |

I am goin with Bears vs INDY, Bears will play all there games in the playoffs at home because Seattle will blow it as they always do. The Bucs and Panthers will not be able to play in that cold weather and I don't think the Giants D is good enough. 12/21/2005 9:34:08 AM |

even if San Deigo wins out they still won't make it. Steelers would have to lose to let SD in...and that won't happen b/c Pitts plays Clevland and Detroit. Steelers own the tie break due to head to head win over SD.
My pick:
New England vs NY Giants
NE wins again...yawn

Here is my logic why I made that pick...I had to think thru it to see if I was thinking it correctly:
1. Colts – in with Home field 2. Broncos – 1 tough game @ SD = IN at #2 maybe #3 if 1-1 and Cincy 2-0 3. Bengals – 1 tough game @ KC = need to go 2-0 and have Den go 1-1 to get #2 4. Pats – 2 easy games have 4th spot locked up 5. Jags – 2 easy games will go 2-0 – IN at #5 6. Steelers – 2 easy games likely 2-0 – IN at #6 7. Chargers – 2 tough games even if 2-0, Pitts would need an L - OUT 8. Chiefs – 2 tough games likely 0-2 maybe 1-1 if Cincy tanks it to rest players - OUT
1. Seahawks – in with bye (likely 1-1 will earn Home Field) 2. Bears – 1 tough game @ Minn likely 1-1 fall to #3 3. Giants – 1 tough game with Skins likely 2-0 jump to #2 spot 4. Panthers – 2 tough games remaining likely 1-1 fall to wild card #5 5. Bucs – 1 tough game vs ATL, likely 2-0 jump to #4 6. Skins – 2 tough games likely 1-1 = OUT 7. Vikings – 1 tough game in Minn vs Bears who may rest players, likely 2-0 – IN at #6 8. Cowboys – 1 tough game @ Car. Likely 1-1, maybe OUT even at 2-0 = OUT 9. Falcons – 2 tough games remain, likely 1-1 = OUT
Likely Matchups:
Wild Card Weekend:
Jacksonville @ New England Pittsburgh @ Cincinnati Carolina @ Tampa Bay Minnesota @ Chicago (or NYG)
Divisional
Pittsburgh @ Indianapolis New England @ Denver Carolina @ Seattle Chicago @ NYG (or vice versa)
Championships
New England @ Indianapolis Carolina @ New York Giants
Super Bowl

both those teams probably wont even make the playoffs. The Falcons have to win out and get all the other 8-6 teams to lose bc of their 5-5 conference record. Steelers have the head to head against the Chargers so they need major help too.

The Bears or Giants my make it to the Super Bowl by default....If the Panthers can get their act together they can easily do it...but that all starts by winning the division. If the Panthers win and ATL beats the Bucs the Panthers would have no pressure going to ATL on New Years day...that would be good plus having a Home game would make their chances even better. 12/21/2005 11:37:00 AM |

steelers need to pull for kansas city and denver this week. if the steelers, chiefs, and broncos all win this week, the steelers can beat the lions for a guaranteed wild card spot. 12/21/2005 11:44:08 AM |

The Steelers are in if they win both...they don't need any help from anyone. Same goes for the Skins but they have slightly tougher games than Clevland and Detroit...vs NYG and @ Philly 12/21/2005 1:07:00 PM |

the Carolina offense may be inconsistent, but the defense has been on point almost every game this year. I think that will be a major advantage going into the colder time of the year for the playoffs, especially since all of the teams that will have home field advantage in the NFC are outdoors. Same can be said for the Bears.
for that reason, I'm expecting:
NFC - Bears outing the Panthers AFC - Broncos edging out Colts
Super Bowl - Bears winning it all, just so Bronco fans can continue to talk shit about yet another good quarterback.

Chargers will probably make it if they win out. They have tiebreakers over all teams except the Steelers. So that means that all they need is 1 loss from the Steelers or Jags. They could also get in with 2 losses from the Bengals or Broncos. 12/21/2005 8:52:28 PM |

2 losses for the Bengals gives them 5 on the year, which would tie them with the Chargers if they win out. Steelers would win the division, and the Bengals would lose the tiebreaker to the Chargers based on conference record.
it could happen...theoretically. 12/22/2005 12:49:48 AM |

Lost in your dumbness is the fact that I am suggesting that the REAL Superbowl is likely going to occur in the second round of the playoffs when New England visits Indy. AFC: Colts - will not make it, they needed to finish strong and aren't doing so. Patriots - hopes would be better if they were at home, and if Bruschi(sp?) is healthy(was shown limping after the game last night). Pitt - a sporadic running game, a second-year but solid QB, and a defense that CAN stifle opponents, but not necessarily does consistently. Jax - gonna have a QB quandry soon with Leftwich back, but they're too sporadic on offense. Bengals - high-powered but sputtering offense, and a turnover happy defense, good, but not good enough
Chiefs - will beat Cincy this week, but Pitt won't lose to Detroit so their playoff hopes are pretty much over, too bad, I've become a huge LJ fan and I really wish Vermiel could have gotten into the playoffs this year. If they ever get there with a lot of home games in the playoffs they'll be dangerous.
With all that: AFC Champions - Denver Broncos Reasoning: One of the best running games in the league, and a QB who doesn't turn the ball over too much. A solid D who can create turnovers, and they'll have a lot of home games.
NFC: Bears - offense is terrible(but improved with Rex), defense is stingy, but I don't see them making it with that offense. Buccs - as sporadic a team as you can have, bend but usually don't break, but they have weaknesses. If Cadillac doesn't have a good game, this team doesn't have a good game. Giants - Eli Manning has potential, but just isn't fine-tuned enough to lead this team. Tiki Barber has come on strong as of late, but with the defenses he'll be facing in the playoffs, I don't expect him to run wild like he did against the Chiefs. The defense is good, but with their LB situation I don't expect them to be able to stop the run very efficiently. Skins - It's a tale of two Brunell's. The beginning/end of season, or the middle of the season. They have a solid RB and a WR who can be explosive. Defense is good, live by the bend but don't break mentality. But I don't think we'll see the same Brunell from last week in the playoffs.
And then the last team is between Dallas and Carolina. Dallas - If Julius Jones can run every week like he did last week(not necessarily 192 yards but a solid 100+ outing) then that offense will be very effective in the playoffs. But they just haven't shown enough consistency(Washington raping) to get the nod for the SB.
On the outside looking in: Panthers - One-dimensional as you can get. Running game is terrible, offense relies on the shoulders of Steve Smith. Defense feeds on turnovers but have been exposed against the run as of late(Cadillac and Julius tore them up).
With that being said: NFC Champs: Seattle Seahawks Reasoning: a great OL, a great RB, an above average QB and a healthy WR core(finally) means a very potent offense. And to go with that offense a young aggressive defense that can create turnovers and problems with their speed. Plus homefield advantage will work to their advantage way out there in Seattle.

Here is what I hope happens…these would be some great games to watch...at least the AFC:
Wildcard Games: Jacksonville Jaguars @ New England Patriots Pittsburgh Steelers @ Cincinnati Bengals Washington Redskins @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers Carolina Panthers @ New York Giants Divisional Games: New England Patriots @ Denver Broncos Pittsburgh Steelers @ Indianapolis Colts Washington Redskins @ Seattle Seahawks Carolina Panthers @ Chicago Bears Conference Games: New England Patriots @ Indianapolis Colts Washington Redskins @ Carolina Panthers Super Bowl XL: New England Patriots vs Washington Redskins
Skins Win!
Since the NFC is kinda lame this year I just want my Skins to make it through and the Panthers do well too.…this bracket is very possible if NE doesn’t pass Cincy for the 3rd seed. If they do I hope the AFC championship is Pitts @ NE instead of Indy. I would not miss a single game if it plays out like that! I am not too excited about Jacksonville @ Cincinnati if that happens…and I don’t want Carolina vs Washington in the 1st round. 12/27/2005 2:18:41 PM |
