by losing today and the 49ers' victory. 12/24/2005 4:22:33 PM |

No.
If the Texans lose to the 49ers, and the Jets lose out, the Jets get the #1 pick because they have the tiebreaker.
The Saints factor in there somewhere too. 12/24/2005 4:28:21 PM |

if the Jets get #1 - take Bush
if the 49ers get it - take Bush
if the Texans get it - trade the shit out of it for some picks and/or O-linemen... they are fine with Davis/Hollings/Wells 12/24/2005 5:17:28 PM |

true
make the trade with the panthers for some of their O-linemen
then trade away stephen davis or deshaun foster to another team for their O-linemen 12/24/2005 5:23:39 PM |

from what i heard davis is pretty much done and willing to take pay cut but if we realease by like april 1st we get 2.5 cap room free, and from what i've also heard, foster has made it pretty apparent he wont be back with the panthers next year

I believe ESPN said that if teams are tied for the worst record, the ONLY tiebreaker is opponents winning percentage. I just wish I could find something that stated that officially. 12/26/2005 9:34:31 PM |

well the packers played the falcons so we got to be pretty high on the crap scale as far as opponents go 12/26/2005 9:37:11 PM |

all the way at the bottom
Quote : | "TIE-BREAKING PROCEDURE FOR SELECTION MEETING If two or more clubs are tied in the selection order, the strength-of-schedule tie breaker is applied, subject to the following exceptions for playoff clubs:
1. The Super Bowl winner is last and the Super Bowl loser next-to-last. 2. Any non-Super Bowl playoff club involved in a tie shall be assigned priority within its segment below that of non-playoff clubs and in the order that the playoff clubs exited from the playoffs. Thus, within a tied segment a playoff club that loses in the Wild-Card game will have priority over a playoff club that loses in the Divisional playoff game, which in turn will have priority over a club that loses in the Conference Championship game. If two tied clubs exited the playoffs in the same round, the tie is broken by strength of schedule.
If any ties cannot be broken by strength of schedule, the divisional or conference tie breakers, whichever are applicable, are applied. Any ties that still exist are broken by a coin flip." |

there was a segment the other day that if all teams (houston, san fran, NO, Jets, and GB) that the saints would get the first pick with an opponents win percentage of .508. I think green bay was next and then san fransisco and then houston. 12/28/2005 11:49:29 PM |

yep, the saints would get the first pick, but they have the least need for a player like reggie bush. aaron brooks is probably gone, which would cost bush a few million dollars because the saints will likely draft leinart with the first pick (assuming v. young doesn't leave, which seems to be the likely scenario).
looking at the sked: - buffalo should take care of the jets - seattle's 3rd stringers are far better than green bay's 3rd stringers/starters - tb's gonna wipe the floor with the saints
the x-factor is houston putting their money where their mouth has been. they talk about wanting to play to win, in which case they could beat the niners by 20. if the first 3 happen and the 9ers win, then the saints would pick second. i don't know how any shifting of the above scenario would affect the draft order. 12/30/2005 1:20:20 AM |
