Cuba. because like everyone else on the left, i love communism.

in all seriousness: Italy. I've had family living there in the past 20 years that really liked it. Northern Italy is basically equivalent to here, Southern Italy is like somewhere like Mississippi, probably worse. They're just still relying on agriculture and the gov. sorta neglects them.

[Edited on December 25, 2005 at 9:35 PM. Reason : my family comes from the Deep South of Italy. And it's true, it's like Mississippi.]

as much as i love anime, theres no way id live in japan. those people are too stressed and too freaky.

i mean, dancing with robots? wtf?

plus the commercialization of the big cities is ridiculous.

And yeah, the north has more in common with germany or france, and they make all the cars and have all the industry, so they get all the ca$h. i like Rome, its in the middle.

I might have to move to a Scandinavian country, though...skiing and hot blondes...mmmmm

maybe I'd just resign myself to having to go across Europe for beaches, SCUBA, etc

Norway, because every chick there has blonde hair, blue eyes, and looks like they just stepped out of a bikini modeling photoshoot.

as much as i love italy i would not want to live there for their political beliefs/acts (i have other reasons of course!). when i was there an election was being held on abortion rights and across the country the catholic church was holding a mass geared towards young voters to keep them away from the polls. also censorship in the media is pretty big...a writer i know is blacklisted in italy and can't publish anything in any form of media b/c of one column.

however...italians know more about their politics and international politics--especially ours. i really enjoyed discussing politics with the few people i spoke with on the subject while i was there.

i didnt even think about darth benedict, that was dumb of me...hmmm...maybe not italy.

id have to go somewhere warm, no censorship, fairly equal economic status, and no conservative extremism. malta? cyprus? maybe spain?

id love the adventure of africa, if not for the aids threat.

I'd like to move to a smaller, proud, neutral country.

Preferably one with a relatively easy to learn language (I.E. no south-east asian countries, I don't think).

I was gona say Japan, and if not that then Sweeden. Seems I've been well beaten to the punch, as well as standard american comments about both.

So i'll add that I also have a bit of a thing for korea.

Japan is alright. I've been there 5 times. Have you ever even been there? Explain where you went and what you didn't like about it.

well I dont know anything about their culture

I just think its odd to choose an ethnically divided country where the UN has recently completely fucked up reunification
