And will not be watching or spending any of my moolah on anything to do with it. Why you ask? Because the world already has a competition to see who has the best baseball team in the world, its called the Olympics.
The WBC is Selig and Co.'s great attempt at cashing in on the world. Albeit they are doing a shitacular job at it already, this is nothing more than another ploy by MLB to get $$. Not a great classic series. Who benefits from this? The fans? The athletes? If that was the case they'd follow the NHL (yeah i know what a model) and let their "prime investments" compete in a world reknowned Games when they occured.
And yes i'm a Yankee fan. And yes i want a salary cap. And yes I see the irony. But you got to put your foot down somewhere. Like Spider-man 2 ads on bases kind of thing.
So I will boycott this farce of a "classic", and watch real national teams compete..in the Olympics. I can wait a few years. 12/27/2005 7:52:02 PM |

yeah they are. but i'll never except the WBC as the definitive voice on who has the world's best team.
nobody probably agrees with me on this, but thats fine. I just find MLB's and the country's control over the sport distressful. 12/30/2005 3:18:09 PM |
