I would actually love for the Steelers to go to Foxboro.
I doubt that will happen, but it'd be nice. Especially after last season's little bitchfest that ended in a Steeler bitchslapping at New England. 1/8/2006 7:53:55 PM |

I think every team is that way in the playoffs. Same scenario last year, probably even more so, since Roethlisberger hadn't lost a game and they squeeked a fradulent win out against the Jets. 1/8/2006 8:26:30 PM |

well you didnt have the balls to actually make picks on your own, at least i did that much.
and no, i dont know that the steelers can get past indy without signficant blitzing, and even then it won't be easy. they clearly had trouble running their offense with the noise level in that dome, and i'll be the first to admit that it doesn't look too good.
i'm hoping i'm wrong though 1/9/2006 12:39:43 AM |

Steelers lose at Indy, Broncos stop the Brady streak, Broncos go into Indy and pull off the upset.
Pitt won today because Cincy cannot stop the run, and Palmer was out. Kitna played terrible the entire second half, had that been Palmer there's no way to be sure he'd play better, but you have to believe he'd play better than Kitna did.
But if Pitt can take out Manning in the first series they'll win for sure, haha.

It's kinda hard NOT to play it cool against a team that's being led by Jon Kitna. The opposing QB is basically cool by default.

If Palmer hadn't gotten fucked over (the more I see that replay, the more intentional it looks is), no way the Steelers win that game. 1 pass, 66 yards...he's the deep threat the Bengals lost that would have won the game. It would have been a shootout, but it'd have been 38-31 again in the home team's favor.
Steelers are done next week once they face a real offense. Same with the Pats. 1/9/2006 4:14:09 PM |

Haha, the guy that can't beat a coin is calling someone an idiot.
Hey, remember this quote before last year's AFC Championship game?
Quote : | "i still just don't understand how the steelers are the underdog for this game.
i mean let's look at the facts
-steelers are on a 15 game winning streak -steelers beat the patriots in the regular season -game is being played in pittsburgh -steelers are undefeated in pittsburgh this year -tom brady has never played a full game and won against the steelers in pittsburgh
all i keep hearing about is how the patriots didn't have dillon the first time they played the steelers and that he is going to make all the difference in the world. you people forget that the steelers have seen dillon twice for each of the last 8 years. and i think even more of you forget that dick lebeau (the steelers DC) coached dillon while he was HC at cincy. he knows how to stop the guy.
i'm sure this will be a closer game than the first game this season, but i still think the steelers will win. i just don't understand how the steelers could possibly be underdogs in this situation though.
i'll be watching this game instead of the state/maryland game on sunday, so hopefully my steelers will win." |

all those statements were true when i said them, what's your point? 1/10/2006 7:17:31 AM |
Lil G Suspended 2426 Posts user info edit post |
My point is, you thought all those "facts" were reasons why the Steelers were going to win. There was no doubt in your mind. All you guys had no fucking clue as to why New England was favored in that game and you posted all your stats for pages and pages as to why the Steelers were bound to win that game.
Hey, remember this?
Quote : | "lets see
steelers have better WR's, better RB's, better defense, better punter, etc
you argue the quarterback rating, but what is so inaccurate about it when you get over 100-200 pass attempts? peyton manning was clearly the best quarterback this year and he has the best quarterback rating to show for it.
the best qb rating stat on ben though is his 4th quarter qb rating. he averages 118.5 rating in the 4th quarter over all his starts. that's pretty damn good (1st in the NFL, actually). if i need a guy to make something happen at the end of the game, no matter how the rest of the game has gone, ben's the guy. tom brady only has a 72.3 4th quarter qb rating (11th in NFL). Also, ben's 3rd down qb rating is 101.1 to brady's 83.0
the thing that impresses me the most about ben roethlisberger is the way he keeps his composure. he throws a pick and is immediately ready to get right back out there, no worries. there are very few quarterbacks that can honestly say they do this. ben threw 2 picks in the jets game last week, yet he went on to lead the game winning drive in overtime, completing 5 or 6 big passes along the way.
and you cited the steelers 1-2 punch at RB as something they've built their success on, but that actually isn't even true. they have very rarely gotten to actually use staley and bettis as a 1-2 punch this year, thanks to staleys hamstring injury he suffered earlier this year against the patriots. (a patriot player actually punched him in the hamstring). it was staley for the first several games, and then bettis came in and got 100 yard rushing games in 6 straight starts. staley seems like he's back to 100% now though, so we might get a chance to see the 1-2 punch in action tomorrow.
and you bash cowher's playoff coaching, but he's made it to the AFC title game 5 times in his 13 years as the steelers head coach. not many coaches in the NFL can say that. he has won his division an unprecedented 8 times in those 13 years, and made it to the super bowl once. you can look at that and say that all it means is he lost 3 of the 4 previous AFC championship games then, but the fact remains that he has made it there.
it's supposed to be 12 degrees at the game tomorrow, so i'm guessing ben will be wearing his damn gloves again, which is going to hurt his accuracy a little. if the steelers are able to win this one though, i'd expect him to have a big game in the super bowl, as he will probably not need the gloves down in jacksonville.
if this game comes down to running the football, steelers win. if it comes down to passing the football, ben can throw when he needs to. that one's kind of a toss up. if it comes down to kicking, well, i'm just glad we're playing at heinz field. " |
Yeah, Ben was awesome that game. Those three picks really helped his team. Of course, you have the gloves to blame.
What was that final score? Oh yeah, 41-27, right? Would have been 41-20 if it weren't for a garbage last-minute Steelers touchdown. But, yeah, you pretty much nailed that game right on the head.

I didn't change my mind about the Super Bowl. I still don't think the Panthers will win it. The NFC was weak this season, so I jumped on 10-1 odds like any smart gambler did.
