So, who else thinks the new "official" ncsu ring is ugly as sin and wont be ordering one since we dont get crap for choices for an overpriced who the hell cares ring anyways?

I'm graduating in May, but I bought mine as soon as I was eligible (I wasn't dead-set on a class ring, but my dad was - he didn't go to college and always saw it as something important) several years ago. If I hadn't, I wouldn't have gotten one of these new ones...I think the new designs should have supplemented, not replaced, the past ones.

I remember buying a high school ring and wish I hadn't. Skipped the NCSU rings due to pricing ... I got custom license plates with NC State on them instead.

imo, most school's class rings look worse than our new official one, and NCSU was spoiled for many years even getting a choice (and the one choice that is available now). i know many schools who have a ring that you can get, and thats to make it a lot easier for alumni to spot each other in a crowd

I bought one, and i wear it often. Also, if in a fight, i can put a block S on someone's forehead. Maybe it looks ugly as sin for the ladies, though...i don't ever see any girls wearing them.

I don't need an overpriced ring to know where I went to college. It's on the diploma, bitch.

I think the new rings for ladies are ugly - and agree that they should have supplemented, not replaced, the old rings. I would have more than happily ordered one of the old ones, but since they're not available - i'm just not getting a ring.

Chuck's FSU NC ring could double as a softball... it's only a little bigger than his chest.

All I can say is that I really wish I had ordered mine last year when we had a choice. I think the women's ring is WAY to bog so I just got the smallest and cheapest alternative. I almost didnt get one at all but my dad thought it was really important. The one is got isnt so bad and its probably the least huge and extravagant of them all.

how common is it to have a ring from grad school instead of undergrad? (is there a 'rule'?)

i know i wouldn't wear a class ring if i were to buy one, so i'm not going to spend $200 on a paper weight.

i don't really have an opinion on the appearance of the official ring, though

My parents got me one when I graduated a few years ago. It kind of looks like the official one, but we didn't have an "official" ring back in 02. I don't think the new design looks too bad.

I have no intentions of getting one.

Now, this might be because I got a really nice one back in high school and promptly lost it, but eh.
