= my wireless connection just resets when using VNC on a LAN computer. wireless disconnects, then reconnects immediately, causing VNC to close, of course. (RANDOM INTERVAL, could be after 2 seconds, could be after 10 minutes of being connected).
Anyone know about these problems? couldn't find any viable solutions via google via via via via

IBM X31, 802.11b wireless (Intel(R) PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 3B - driver version 1.2.4.35)
Linksys 802.11g WRT54G with latest firmware (although the router blows ASS when it comes to stability)
Windows 100% updated, drivers updated, does this for all types of drivers.

I had a similar issue with windows vpn. There's something up with the encapsulation that seems to own windows's ability to maintain a connection. Never found a solution 1/17/2006 1:19:56 AM |

Not bashing at all, but I've had situations where this occured unexplainably with a windows pc, where a mac had no problems at all. I agree with the firmware suggestion though... I've been using the opensource dd-wrt for a while now and it is flippin packed with options... recommend you give it a shot. 1/17/2006 9:14:17 AM |

latest version is v23
this thing improves my WRT54G drastically, haven't tested the VNC + laptop shit yet though.

^ yea, if you have a WRT54G, there are a bunch of 3rd party firmwares like that specialized to do a bunch of neat things...
For many use cases, I've found that using a WRT54G + 3rd party firmware is pretty darn close to using a real Cisco product without paying the premium price...at least for SMB 1/17/2006 7:32:01 PM |

When people have trouble with VPN usually the first reccomendation is to lower the MTU. I would give that a shot. Can't hurt. 1/17/2006 8:29:27 PM |
