Does anyone remember that show "Joan of Arcadia"? The song at the beginning was "What if God was one of us?" That was on for a while. Plus, you have "The Book of Daniel" which is on NBC. That was most likely in an English class, and not used as a specific "Bible reading" but more as a literature, like many use the book of Jonah.
