Is there anyway to embed ringtones you download online into your cellphones? I think the cell phone companies are ripping off on the ringtones prices. I went to Vietnam this summer, and saw them put ringtones into cellphones through some software. Does anyone here know how to do it? 1/22/2006 9:41:00 PM |

i'm talking about just any provider. From my understanding, as long as your cellphone has a removable memory card, you should be able to saved ringtones into that card, and then put it in your cellphone. 1/22/2006 10:04:40 PM |

^I don't know what phone, but I'm on a market for one right now, and I'm looking for one that enable me to download ringtones off the web, instead of paying for them. 1/22/2006 11:14:01 PM |

If you have Cingular, Walmart.com has previews for music cds that are .mp3 and are 30 seconds long. It is free, but it counts as data usage so you might want a MEdia Net package. 1/22/2006 11:20:18 PM |

my verizon phone (v710) won't accept .mp3 attachments... but if you email it a mp3 file disguised as a .mid it plays perfectly 1/22/2006 11:52:59 PM |

my phone (nokia 6230, cingular) will play .mp3 filles as ringtones without complaint. I just chopped out a section of the song I wanted to use, sent it to the phone from a laptop via bluetooth, and selected it. Pretty simple.

you register (its free). enter in your cell information. choose a MIDI, MP3, or AAC file to upload. pick the length of time u want the snippet from (probably not more than 30 seconds long). go from there... 1/23/2006 1:23:44 AM |

I use a program called SoundCapture - a free download from download.com. It records any sound that is playing through your sound card. Then i record the clip i want in mp3 format and bluetooth it to my phone. Works like a charm and it is free. 1/23/2006 8:21:45 AM |

^ Precisely. So long as your phone is capable of playing .mp3 files, has storage capacity, and you have a way to transfer them onto it, then you're all set. I use a Motorola Mobile Phone Tools kit which I bought on eBay to connect my old V400 to my computer. I have uploaded all kinds of custom wallpapers and ringtones onto it. I actually use the CODEC sound clip from Metal Gear Solid (which I recorded and edited) as my ringtone.
By the way, absolutely do NOT buy a data connection cable or software kit from your provider. They will give you a royal screwin' for it. Cingular sells the Motorola Mobile Phone Tools kit exactly like the one I got for $60.00. I got mine on eBay for $5.00. 1/23/2006 10:22:48 AM |
