I really hate to be making this thread right now, but I really think we need to throw some money out on the market for an established Wide Receiver...not one like this Carter guy, a serious receiver that will take some of the attention off of Steve Smith.

We force fed him footballs all year long, and luckily, he was just to good for defenses to respond. If we stay like we are now, next year....I promise you he will not have close to the same success.

As far as RB, i think Deshaun(sp?) can be our featured running back, i really dont see a problem there. But despite what many say, I dont like the way Goings runs, and with Davis likely retiring, we will need to address the running back situation as well. Yeah, we have 76896 running backs on our roster, but if they all are ass, what good does that do us?

as far as Captain Bojangles is concerned, with that mammoth of a contract he signed last offseason, he should be getting used to dirty rice and boo-berry biscuits for many years to come.

what about our o-line and TE? any thoughts on those for next season?

O-line def.

There have been games where we've completely lost the battle up front.

Well normally this is where I would troll by posting Jets things but I'm gonna go ahead and NOT do that this postseason..

I was rooting for the Panthers tonight definitely.. too bad Jake had a bad game..

[Edited on January 22, 2006 at 9:48 PM. Reason : good season though.]

you dont like him? (meaning Deshaun)

i think he is definitely serviceable in some way shape or form. He hits the holes relativley hard and is fast around the edges of the line. I would love to have someone more established, but if we rely on a great RB coming from our draft position, it would have to be a big time diamond in the rough.

I say, WR---->O-line--->RB---->TE

I haven't been that impressed by Foster so far, but upgrading the OL is a much more important step.

it doesnt matter if he can fucking fly. If he can't get on their field for more than half the season, he should either take half the pay or be released.

we need a possession WR, a new Center because Jeff Mitchell is probably retiring, a DT for Buckner, we have lacked a good TE, picking 29th is going to hurt, at the position you draft an OL or DT.

OL before DT. OL was a problem this year. We are still OK on defense.

trade colbert for someone who gives a fuck.

the RB situation is iffy. If foster can be had for cheap keep him (share carries with shelton), if not get another rb.

NEEDS
1) WR (established)
2) OL (established)
3) TE (rookie)

we have some weaknesses and Seattle showed how to neautralize Smith. We need more offensive weapons to be a Super Bowl contender, the defense needs a few tweaks.

no but his injuries are defensive line threatning. motherfucker has played like 2 minutes in the last 2 years. we need a new DT. we need a TE. we need to sign a free agent running back who isnt old as fuck. and we need another WR.

sign Alexander the Great, dump Foster, Davis, Witherspoon....let every game be a shoot out....at least with Alexander, it will take attention off Smith...i doubt Alexander will be a Seahawk....he will of course go to the highest bidder. The Seahawks should of traded him last year, now he will leave and they will get nothing.

He isnt coming here, but nice thought

Smith has been our main weapon, Foster had as many yards as Goings did last year.

Davis was what we missed, he was the guy we brought in like the Steelers do with Bettis, inside the 5.

ummm, when Davis was put on IR, it seemed to me after that, we had a hellofatime getting it in for a TD in the "red zone" We had to settle for FGs...Davis was almost automatic when he was brought it...Goings isnt a bruiser, and he doesnt have Fosters speed...he is ok for a white guy playing RB.

DL is the most important. Buckner is retiring. Jenkins isn't dependable. I see him every couple days eating 30,000 chicken wings at a sports bar down the corner, who knows if he even comes back and can get in shape.

OL is next. We're getting by with marginal tackles, one good guard and an old center.

LB - RB - WR are all on the same level after that.

i can't believe nobody has said we need to pick up another quality linebacker

Is it that everybody thinks Fields is coming back without missing a beat or that Dan Morgan isn't planning on missing a 1/3 of the season with injuries next year or maybe thomas davis will turn into derrick brooks like he was suppose too

Good call...I dont care who, but the Panthers need at least one Wolfpack player on the roster to make up for all the Holes that have been or are on the team. How long was the contract K-Rob signed with Minnesota?

Please Cut/Don't Resign/Trade:
Kris Mangum
DeShaun Foster (he is going to want a huge deal and his ass does nothing but get hurt)
Keary Colbert
Kris Jenkins (missing 2 seasons in a row and we still go to the NFC Champ)
Tutan Reyes (he is a fat sack of shit)
Ricky Manning Jr. (if it is a pass he is getting burnt)

Bring in:
Jamal Lewis (read this on cnnsi or somewhere that the rumor is we are going to make him an offer)
Draft WR (it is a dead year for WR so we could steal someone with our late draft pick as well as Reggie Wayne could be a free agent)
Draft John McCargo (would be a great pick to bring in someone to help with Carstens and Buckner)
Draft a TE (preferebly T J)
Pick up a veteran to play third corner.

Fix a few holes, the cats will be fine.

How about get a real QB?

I could throw to an open Steve Smith and look good too.

Rivers playing for Carolina would be sweet.

Jake is fine when he gets blocking. We lost last night bc of our line and our lack of running game.

like who? I love Rivers but he hasnt proved anything and when i close my eyes I can picture us in the Super Bowl 2 years ago and who was the QB??? Jake. Dont jump ship bc we had a bad game. It happens when you dont have a running game and your defense features overrated players like Ricky Manning Jr.

Delhomme's SB XXXVIII Line:
16-33, 323 yards, 3 TDs, 0 INTs. Pretty fucking solid

Also, considering that Jim McMahon, Phil Simms, Doug Williams, Jeff Hostetler, Mark Rypien, Trent Dilfer, and Brad Johnson have Super Bowl rings, Jake's fine with me.

As far as needs for next year: 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 RB, 1 DT(Depends on Kris Jenkins), and if we could trade or get rid of Warton for a solid OL, I think we can be pretty damn solid.

the jamal lewis rumor intrigues me, but i still think shelton can be that type of back for us. hopefully we let foster go and retain 'spoon, cause he's the much better value of the two. don't know if we can afford reggie wayne even if indy lets him go (probably won't).

if i'm not mistaken, aren't both edge and reggie FA's? if the money can be found, either would be a stellar addition

Delhomme's not going anywhere. He's taken us to a Super Bowl and an NFC Championship in 3 years and he has a huge contract. Cmon, be realistic. Priority is at wide receiver. Keary Colbert is a lousy sack of shit and Ricky Proehl has one foot in the coffin and prolly will retire. Deshaun Foster is too much of a liability at running back. OL is fine when they have a decent running back although it would be nice to replace Reyes because every run towards his hole never goes anywhere. Buckner is past his prime so he will need to be replaced soon. Ricky Manning Jr. is a decent option at corner, no need to go and waste money on another, he's not that bad. It would be nice to have a more athletic TE.

ricky isn't going to retire. jake isn't going to be benched. and will you people stop with the they need to add some wolfpack players to fill up for ALL the holes they have had....try 2...and only one of them ever played for us moron. I believe in the last 5 or so years there hasn't been an nc state player available come our time to draft that was worth a shit. you want us to draft players off teams that go 5-6 6-5 and then come football season your bitching about how bad they play..imagine if they made our team in the nfl....please
