since we'll have a first round bye, you go to Greensboro and hit up the fans of the team who lost the early session game

they are looking to dump the rest of their ticket packet and will usually do so for a great price

that's how I did it in the past

Doesn't the Wolfpack club (paying, not student) members get a chance to buy tickets?

I saw on the Wake Forest board that their members have already got invitations to purchase tix...I want mine!

to get tickets through the WPC you will have to be REALLY high in the rankings...

I'm pretty sure that two years ago the SWPC offered students tickets at a pretty decent price.

Think about it for a minute....G'boro Colisium holds ~20,000....split that 12 ways = 1,667 tickets per school.

That means to even have a shot at tickets you need to be ranked in the 400s of the WPC.

I am ranked 10,000ish....

The only way to go is scalp/buy outside....or thru a travel agent which is $$$$$$$

they used to have a small allocation for students that they would sell by lottery. not sure how they do it anymore.

1234, its actually less than that. Sponsors get a large number of the tickets. Universities will get even less with conference expansion.

The ACC Tournament always "sells-out" due to corporate tickets and the small allotment that each schools sells to their top donors. They never have a ticket sale to the general public. I would suggest trying to scalp tickets, as was suggested above. This is why the ACC Tournament needs to be in a dome, like Atlanta or Tampa, to give more tickets to the pubilc.

Yeah you can get tickets if you have a couple thousand bucks to spend for a weekend.

Just buy them the next day after FSU, Clemson, UVA, etc. lose and leave early.

I'll probably take the wait-outside-after-the-play-in approach.

acc tourney sucks to go to anyway, i hear. ncsu gets shoved off in shitty seats, while unc and duke get sideline.

also, the crowds aren't very loud, because most are the rich assbags and they're not even from the schools that are playing at the time most likely.

wasn't the ACC Tourney held in the Georgia Dome a few years ago? (2001?)

the Greensboro Coliseum was once expanded from like 15,000 to 21,273ish. they could just take the roof off of it again and add a third deck to over hang the upper deck. it'd be paid for after probably around 5 ACC tournaments.

Supposedly they rotate the teams sections every year.

i'm pretty sure the sections rotate around the arena each year

(at least pre-expansion, i have no idea how expansion affected the rotation)

i went in 2002 and paid face from fans right after their team lost

you might have to ask around a bit to get a good deal, though

ACC tourney is actually pretty fun to go to. Buying on site will be even easier this year as three teams will be leaving on thursday as opposed to 1 or 2 in years past. Someone mentioned that they heard it sucked because lack of loudness. True it isn't loud like you are used to when a team is playing a home game. However, it gets pretty exciting especially when an underdog starts to make a run. Fans from schools that aren't playing start choosing sides, usually for the underdog and the place starts feeling more electric. If you are a true basketball fan you will love it because you get so many games in 3-4 days. Also the nightlife at area bars around the arena can be allot of fun. Chance to meet and party with cool people from all over. Great way of networking and making future friends to visit at away football game weekends.

I went to the Saturday session of the 04 tournament. I paid $3 over face value after a cop saw a guy trying to scalp tickets to me. The cop ended up arresting his ass. I laughed like hell because the fucker was a gay ass Carolina fan.

actually the way the tourny has done it, with the expansion its over a 3 yr period (or something like that)...the original 9 teams get the most tickets with the addition of miami, VT and BC getting a prorated amount over 3 years (once again, i think its 3 yrs but i'm not 100%) that they joined the league. the tourny tix won't be divided an even 12 split until around 2008/2009

^^^you are correct. also the entire seats are not split between schools...corporate sponsors and such get their share.

I got two tickets to the championship game from a clemson fan at a the Blue Marlin in G'boro one night for free, the place has since shut down but that has nothing to do with this story. If your around you can get tickets. The highest I've scene scalpers charging around there was 150 a piece. But last year I bought mine from a travel company and yea that were steep....but I was sitting next to Del Negro and his wife. The fans are a bunch of old rich people which means getting rowdy kind of sucks unless you sneak in whole packs of mini bottles...which works.

Is there a seating chart that shows which school gets what section of seats?

from what i recall that info comes when you get your ticket packet...it'll have the chart with what schools are where. and i know it's always in the tourny program.

http://www.greensborocoliseum.com/images/full_size_seating_charts/basketball_large.gif

as far as that goes, in addition to picking up tickets at the tourny there's always people looking to trade (tickets and money) for better seats. that's what we usually do...we have our book of tix but try to find someone who's willing to sell theirs with a trade to either get all our tix together (we're usually split up) or someone gets better tix and we rotate.

but honestly...being in the house is enough for me.

yeah, ive done the whole, stand outside of the arena and pick up losing teams tickets from people and usually ended up with shitty nosebleed seats.. Was hoping to see where the teams had their sections before hand. I'm def. going this year, no matter what.

I think that the sponsors get a lot of the seats, so it isn't split 12 ways...
