Quote :
"RALEIGH, North Carolina (AP) -- Army officials are investigating allegations that members of the celebrated 82nd Airborne Division appear on a gay pornography Web site, a spokeswoman said Friday.

Authorities at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, have begun an inquiry into whether the soldiers' actions violated the military conduct code.
...
The military-theme Web site does not appear to make any direct reference to the 82nd Airborne or Fort Bragg. The registered owner of the Web site's domain name lists an address in Fayetteville, the city that adjoins Fort Bragg
...

Maj. Todd Vician, a Defense Department spokesman in Washington, said the military's "don't ask, don't tell" policy states that "homosexual orientation alone is not a bar to service, but homosexual conduct is incompatible with military service."

"We define homosexual conduct as homosexual acts or verbal or nonverbal communication that a member is homosexual," Vician said.

The 82nd Airborne is one of the most celebrated units in the military. Its 15,000 paratroopers are trained to deploy anywhere in the world within 18 hours.

Soldiers from the division have served extensively in Iraq and Afghanistan, and several thousand remain overseas.

no, a limp wrist or girly walk won't get you kicked out

in fact, i think that most of the people who get kicked out for being homo aren't booted for verbal statements. you can be like "I am the most flaming, peter-puffing locker room faggot you've ever seen", and they'll usually be like "Oh yeah? Prove it."

"AHHHH! THAT'S FUCKING NASTY! GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE! ANYBODY HAVE THE JAG'S PHONE NUMBER HANDY?"

now wait, my cousin told me that you usually can't even get booted for being caught having sex with another man anymore, because too many people would use it to get out of going to iraq

Your cousin is an E-4.

Ever hear my maxim "Don't listen to the E-4 legal mafia"? There's a reason this came about.

And Supplanter, did you even read the article? Appearing in a gay pornography website isn't just a "limp wrist". If anything, you now have photographic evidence of being a homosexual, which is like photographing yourself stealing something or vandalizing something. Even if it were straight porn, that's still reason to get one kicked out for conduct unbecoming.

(Again, I wonder if NCSU has classes in reading comprehension. Christ, you even highlighted the most important part of the article and still missed the point.)

I love you so much that when I become pregnant with our love child, I'll consider adoption instead of abortion.

As far as the topic goes, dudes make homo porn all the time without being homo. The only reason I'd object to their movie making is if they were OFFICIALLY dressed as soldiers in the movie. THAT would be conduct unbecoming.

i.e., pictures. Not the fact that a person walks funny.

I mean, honestly, do you think that company commanders have the free time to do the paperwork necessary to chapter someone out because they talk with a lisp?

Wait, there I go again. Expecting intelligent conversation out of BridgetSPK. (I love how she doesn't understand the term "homosexual acts".)

So here's what I'll do. It just so happens that I'm doing a little work for the 82nd's JAG right now. I'll actually show them this page and judge their reaction. I expect it would probably be laughter at the amateur JAGs out here.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: "The Wolf Web. Where people who have never served in the military stand by to give you their expert military analysis."

^ i think Supplanter is pointing out that by saying that homosexual conduct being defined as "nonverbal communication that a member is homosexual" can be interpreted as meaning, "if you look like the stereotypical gay guy, that's nonverbally saying that you're gay"

you might interpret it that way

but neither of the military officers in this thread, nor any JAG, anywhere, interprets it that way.

i mean, I might interpret that I won the Publisher's Clearing House sweepstakes, but the Prize Patrol has yet to see things in that light.

Haha.

Actually, I have the 82nd's JAG already programmed into my phone. (I mean, what officer doesn't)

Not to mention ANYONE putting pictures of themselves on a pornographic website--gay or straight--is probably a good candidate to get slapped with "conduct unbecoming".

While my reading comprehension has been attacked/my point defended... the "" was to indicate a joking/lack of seriousness attitude. Although I wouldn't mind if the thread generated serious discussion on military policies.

"Court says downloading porn = making porn"

This is the title of another thread... so anyone who has downloaded this stuff is now making military porn?

(before this joke is attacked I'm aware that military & civilian courts are different, i'm just apply the principle from this legal ruling in a manner I found funny)

heres a more local take on it...

http://www.wral.com/news/6510717/detail.html

"The website shows men in sexual situations with other men., saying they're "real military men." The site displays dozens of pornographic pictures and has Fayetteville ties."

"The statement also says the alleged conduct "may lead to degradation of the unit's morale and the good order and discipline" of the unit and Army.

The 82nd Airborne says so far no one has been disciplined. However, several soldiers have been "flagged", meaning they can't be promoted or receive awards until the investigation is over."

Is flagging standard procedure for investigations?

I couldn't tell you, but it doesn't sound unreasonable.

I've had the fortune of washing my hands of the majority of the paperwork. Plus I've had surprisingly few legal issues on people...

Maverick, don't call me out for not doing anything. You accused Supplanter of not even reading the article. I pointed you to the part of the article that Supplanter was questioning because you were all caught up on the gay porn part. And, no, of course, I don't think company comanders have the time to "do the paperwork necessary to chapter someone out..." I never said they did. And, even if they did have the time, I still don't think they would. You know why? Because that would just be ridiculous. Thanks for bitching at me for nothing.

"Soldiers Moved For Safety Reasons, As Officials Investigate Gay Porn Claims

FORT BRAGG, N.C. -- Fort Bragg officials confirmed Monday that some soldiers accused of inappropriate conduct that appears to be tied to a gay pornography Web site have been moved to new barracks for their safety.

The Web site in question claims to be based in Fayetteville and advertises "real military men" in sexual situations with one another.

"During the investigation, it is in the best interest for all involved that the troopers be afforded privacy during this investigation. They have been moved to another barracks location," an Army public affairs officer told WRAL.

Officials say the investigation is in its infancy and once complete, could lead to criminal charges."

"Even if it were straight porn, that's still reason to get one kicked out for conduct unbecoming."

I think violence against troops would be more unbecoming than porn.

"WRAL spoke with a man who says he was a soldier and an editor of a gay porn Web site. He said many such sites target young troops, offering quick cash -- even thousands of dollars -- to people who do not make much money.

"It's very enticing, very enticing," said the man. "(It's) almost a form of entrapment by these porn sites."

In the case concerning Fort Bragg soldiers, WRAL tried to ask a man linked to the Web site in question about those same issues, but he was nowhere to be found. Tax records indicate that he owns a house in the Rayconda neighborhood of Fayetteville, which had a surveillance camera above the front porch.

WRAL went to the home, knocked on the door and looked inside. Even though there were people inside, no one answered.

WRAL also went to his business address, where no one answered either.

However, someone using a name from the Web site did send an e-mail to WRAL, saying that he is making it more difficult to access the site."

So for the people who aren't homosexual, but just pose for money... can they be punished for being openly homosexual when they aren't actually gay?

No one said it DID happen. They're just moving them out of their current barracks to get them away from the other people in the barracks.

Which makes sense to actually sequester the people in question to help prevent a lot of rumors from flying around the barracks.

You shut the fuck up. We'll handle the UCMJ.
