I have a problem with the front lights on my car. It's a Honda Accord and everything is in working condition with the exception of the two corner light lenses on the front of the car. I am the reason for it, while working on the car using a hydraulic floor jack and it malfunctioned going up and the front bumper came off breaking the passenger headlight and the two corner lenses that house the turn signals. The headlight has been replaced. All of the lights work, however there are no corner lenses. I have made a purchase through a website for the corner lenses last Thursday, but as of today I've been informed that it will be another week before they get here.

I have just gotten employed by a very nice company out near Cary and I absolutely have to drive my car. My options are to either chance getting a ticket for the lights and they see a bad inspection sticker on top of that, or get an inspection and chance getting stopped for the light covers. If I get stopped about the light covers, I will have the lenses by the court date and will be able to get it dropped.

It is a 93 Honda Accord so by new NC Law anything older than 95 will only have to have a safety inspection. I would greatly appreciate anyones help with this.

Send me a PM

What exactly is the problem?
You don't have corner lenses? Or that you have covers on them?

That the lenses broke and now arent there, the bulbs are still there and still work.

Find amber colored tape, apply over light bulbs, profit.

Talked to "Just Inspections" and some place on Peace St. Today and both said absolutely tape was not allowed. I have considered tape if I can get a sticker to get me by until the lenses get here. That would work.

as long as you go and get your car inspected if it fails you have 30 days to fix the problem and come back. they give you a paper showing this so if you get stopped for some reason then you show that to the cops and you are ok. then when your lense covers come in you just go back to the same place and they will pass you...pay the last $5 for the sticker and you are good to go.

^Yup. That is the best way to go about it. That way you can say, if you get pulled over, that the lights are being delivered, and you attempted your inspection.
Also, you have 15 days into the next month to get a vehicle inspected.

if you did get a ticket it would be a fix it ticket so all you would have to do is show the assistant da the receipts from getting it taken care- something that would happen way down the road

you are thinking way too much about this

but i dont really see why it will take you wix to fix a couple lights

Here's the thing. I went to Europe for a good amount of time and before I left I sold my 2004 Corolla. I got back found this car for a steal, made a few repairs on it, and will drive it until I can get myself into something newer again.

I thought they did give you a few days into the new month, however this car has been out since June of 04. The girl that owned it as far as I can tell is/was very irresponsible.

About the inspection failing. Would I not be turned away by an inspection place if they saw me coming with a car with no corner lights on the front?

and btw, if you do get a ticket, DA drops the charges if you go to court and prove that you got the car inspected. i'm a mechanic and i inspected cars before, i know this.

I drove a car around for 3 months after the inspection was due and had no probs, even when I got stopped at a license check. They were just like "get it done, k?"

I wouldn't freak out if I were you.

I'd say yellow tape + attempted (failed) inspection for the win.
