for Walk the Line not to be included in Best Picture is horseshit. Munich wasn't near as up to par as Walk the Line.

I'm really surprised that William Hurt got nominated. I loved A History of Violence, but I didn't find anything really out of the ordinary about his performance, and while this isn't HIS fault, the casting felt kind of off.

p.s. GO SQUID GO WHALE

Predicted winners:

Best Picture:
Good Night, and Good Luck

Actor:
Philip Seymour Hoffman

Actress:
Felicity Huffman or Reese Witherspoon, can't decide at moment

Supporting Actor:
Matt Dillon (although this is actually my personal choice...)

Supporting Actress:
Rachel Weisz

Director:
Ang Lee

Foreign Film:
no idea, haven't seen any of them

Adapted Screenplay:
Brokeback Mountain

Original Screenplay:
The Squid and the Whale

Documentary:
Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room

I haven't seen Street Fight or Darwin's Nightmare but I can't imaging Penguins or Murderball being winners b/c they aren't really controversial or political, which the Academy seems to lean toward.

VISUAL EFFECTS:
The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
King Kong
War of the Worlds

I think it's bullshit that Episode III didn't get a nomination for visual effects since its visual effects are better than all three nominees.

^i dont understand that either. or how they only have 3 animated feature choices... why not Chicken Little or Valiant, or Robots... they might not win but there is certainly more than 3 choices.

PS. am i the only one who thought Crash was really bad? acting and plot were awful.

Jessica Alba's none nude titties were a tour de force

If she does get naked, they should definitely give her an oscar. The same goes for all hot chicks.

I had little interest in seeing Crash. Maybe if it comes on HBO.

Match Point I'll watch cuz it's supposed to be good + Scarlett Johanssen has the bomb-ass titties.

Crash was fucking amazing. Definitely in my all-time top ten.

I'm really, really rooting for David Strathairn, but I know his chances are about 1 in 40.

good night and good luck was enjoyable to me in a more academic way, as a far-left liberal who has a degree in mass communication

i didn't really think it was that great of a film, or that it was filled with too many amazing performances
(of course it was light years better than 95% of movies)

i just thought it was a good story that needed a good preservation

i would not feel bad at all if straitharn won though
capote should win though, for pure performance

while its wierd

i like that they're playing people off as soon as they start speaking

its not like anyone cares about the costume designer or short film folks

this way they don't have to play off as many of the "big" winners
