Registration for the UNC campout will open on January 30th at Noon. A group leader must submit the unity ID for his or her group (2
to 15 people). Registration for camp out will close at 6 p.m. on
Sunday, February 5
. Group members must verify their membership as
provided in email or here.
The deadline for verification is 6 p.m. on Monday, February 6. ALL
group leaders must then print out the form with all verified members and
submit to the Student Government office in Witherspoon 307 between 3p.m.
and 9 p.m. on Monday, February 6. If there is a conflict with this time, a
group may turn in the form early, but not late. Please do not put the
form in a sealed manila envelope.
Camp out will be on Friday, February
10, at 7 p.m. to Saturday, February 11, at 7 a.m. Groups may begin setting
up their campsites at 4 p.m. on Friday, February 10.

How Line Order is Determined: After forms are
received all the eligible groups will be numbered. All the numbers will be
put in a computer to be placed in a random order. The last group who will
be allowed to campout will be indicated on the posting. The order of camp
out will be posted on this page. On Friday at 4:00 p.m. the winning groups
will be allowed to setup for campout. Only groups that are guaranteed
tickets will be allowed to campout. All other groups will be placed on
stand by. The first line check will occur around 7:00 p.m. If any group is
kicked out the next group in line will be contacted and have one hour from
contact time. There will be two attempts at contact; if no contact is made
the next group in line will be contacted. The group that is next in line
will be placed in the position on the group that was kicked out.

Timetable

half of each group must be present for line check). There will be at least
two unannounced line checks sometime during the night. Be sure that at
least half of your group is there. If a group has an odd number of people,
then a majority of group members must be there.
  • Saturday, Febuary 11 - 7:00 a.m. - Final line
check, once your group has been checked, group leaders may get begin to

ok. when the hell is campout actually going to be? I keep seeing different things. Whitehouse said the 17th in the technician and I also saw the 17th in the verification email. Someone needs to make up their damn minds.

I think campouts suck ass. You really can't do anything about that besides bullshit around. Then when its all over with, you still get shitty ass tickets behind the goal, and others get front row student tickets from the lottery......

Tyler Durden should really have done the obligatory "you do not talk about campout" line of jokes.

well, I'm going to trust Scott here on this one, since originally when the 7 people in the room decided on which games to do campout for, we were told it would have to be on the 10th. In fact, that last campout was a week later than what Athletics suggested it to be.

I'll assume the 10th, since that's what the ticket website says. Assuming it's on the 17th, I can't go. I imagine some others are on teh fence based on the dates as well.

Oh, and to respond to the technician viewpoint the other day----athletics didn't decide when campout would be. There were 7 students in the room, and 2 people from Athletics. We decided based on what games we had to chose from, when the other games were, and completely forgot about the super bowl --well, we didn't forget, i just thought it was a week later...

So, students get to pick when campout will be, not athletics. They just go along for the ride and pay for the pizza.

If you'd like to make suggestions to your student senators in the campus community committee, there's always the option of a third campout if you all want it.

Its going to be on the 10th, we couldnt decide which date for longest time and we had documents that said both dates, he cut and paste from the wrong one.

And the first rule of campout is, you do not talk about campout

and SG is going to impeach me, again

should I get re-elected, do campout and get impeached every year until I get my Master's?

What do you think?

i don't get why they can't just give campout spots to as many people request them up until the point when they're out of student tickets entirely -

if enough kids sign up for campout, then there should be no lottery at all for carolina tickets, just give the seats to the kids who cared enough to show up to campout

why put a limit on the number of tent spots

some people just logistically can't go to campout, for whatever reason. it may have nothing to do with "caring"

then logistically they shouldn't get tickets

They have to put a limit on it because the disaster campout there were 4 times more tents then tickets

but the truth is that there hasn't been that big of demand since...
until students start signing up for campout in mass quanitities, it won't be the sole way of giving out tickets because over 1500 would go unused

and the logic that you may throw saying that without an alternate distribution from campout demand woudl go up for campout spaces is flawed, because it's been tested and failed

^ Exactly. I bet if it was stated that only campouters would get lower-level tix, the demand for campout would go through the roof.

Not a student anymore but this confuses me. so whats the point in camping out? alcohol isn't allowed at campout? Barrell fires aren't allowed either? You can get tickets w/o having to camp out? whats the point? no fun allowed at all. sounds to me like just allot of people hanging outside in the middle of winter just for the sake of being cold. hell, if you guys want to do that just pitch in a yard on brent road and you can drink up.

This, my friends, is exactly why campouters need to get absolutely AWESOME seats. I got awesome seats w/ Maryland, but I didn't have a PROMISE that I would as a result of camping out. A promise of those awesome seats would at least give us a solid answer to that very question.

Cook out runs and Four-Square are the highlights of the night now...

damn college was so much more fun in the '90s when you were not tared, featherd, and rode out of town on a pole for drinking a <gasp>beer.

I'm sure somewhere in my posts I have said this before....If you campout, you get priority seating...meaning lower level seats go to those who campout first, and then they throw in the rest of the tickets to the rest of the seats...

This isn't a hard thing to understand, and it was this way last year too

Tell that to those who camped out for 300-level seats then. And yes, indeed it happened.

If it's 100% this year that campers get priority seating, awesome, but I hadn't seen that written in stone 'til now.

my understanding was the reason for 300 level before was that there aren't 1000 floor seats, so after a certain number they have to start putting student up top (SWPC gets a good portion of floor seats right off the bat)

statefansnation.com has a good article on campout back in the day and how much fun it was for underclassmen to hangout on campus, meet others they normally wouldn't and generally have a good time.
2000 wasn't the only year that couches got burned, I think the administration got pissy b/c of furniture being burned form inside buildings... I hope these first steps go somewhere towards what campout used to be...

ok since the Student Government and all the old people at NCSU have tried to take away some of the craziness associated with campout, i think its only proper that we try to restore the past next Friday night.

oh, and im bringing a trash can painted UNC blue and beating it for 24 hours straight. maybe that can become a tradition. if not, i'll still beat it in my tent.

PS: others are welcome to beat it in my tent as well
