Participants

-Josh Smith

-Andre Iguodala

-Hakim Warrick

-Nate Robinson

I'm rooting for Robinson, plus he is gonna have the crowd on his side with his height

Smith won it last year with that sick behind the back, but Iguodala has got ups too

Also disappointed Lebron turned it down AGAIN, to instead do the wack-ass skills competition

Only 4 participants?? That sucks. It would be cool to see Robinson win. Warrick had some sick dunks at Syracuse so he could be the sleeper. They should offer some more incentive to players to compete in this thing. I think you need atleast 8 to have a good competition. Plus it's good if a white guy is there to embarass himself (aka Rex Chapman and Chris Kaman).

Shit I messed that up. Not Kaman, Anderson. My bad. They both look the same except Kaman is 7 feet tall.

If just one star...

One bonafide high flying star...

Would enter that competition, all the others would come-a-callin.

I think the spirit of competition will be too much for others to ignore (i.e. Kobe, Vince would do it just to knock off the "king" if LeBron ever did it.)
Same goes if any one of the others entered.

I have never seen LeBron do a really artistic dunk, I think he is a phenomonal dunker within the flow of a game, but I wonder how creative or confident in himself doing a 360 between the legs windmill etc.

VC had the best single performance of all time. the one where he hung from the rim w/ his arm, just unreal. one day u think he's just shootin around and he's like, "i think im gonna try to hang from the rim with my arm". thats some creativity.

all this being said, he's still a tarhole and loves the penis.

^^^ If someone called him out, his massive ego would force him into it.

The dunk contest w/ Vince was the best, hands down. And I think LeBron did the dunk between the legs during a game.

Real Talk...

Lebron wouldn't win the dunk contest. Don't get me wrong he does get high, but all of his dunks are the same. I don't think he would be able to compete with Vince, Kobe, Richardson, or either of the Smith boys. If you remember the McDonald's All American Dunk Contest Lebron won cuz he was Lebron and the rest couldn't make the dunks when they counted. He just did practically the same dunk each round. I can't see him being creative either. But he might surprise me one day...

well you are an idiot

he already did a dunk contest

besides, older players dont enter the dunk contest anymore.

when was the last time somebody who had been in the league more than 4 yrs entered?

see that's the thing

i remember that McDonalds contest too

and i was gonna bring it up

but i think that's the thing with lebron

he makes like he can't do some fly shit, and then all of a sudden he comes with a dunk like above

trust me

if he got in one

the show would be on

I don't know if any dunk contest will top the Jordan/ Dominique battles or the Vince Domination. The bad thing about it there were great dunkers with Vince. Steve Francis, McGrady, Ricky Davis, Stackhouse...(Larry Hughes Embarassed himself that year though).

amare and josh smith both did some hot shit this year

vince and the 80's get rep based on name more than anything. they were spectacular but only a little moreso than some other contests where no-names won

fred jones won last year, why the fuck isnt he in it

they should make people put money into it, for charity

have like a trophy

better yet, a championship belt....that changes hands every year. only way a champ cant compete is if he's injured/artest'ed

and bring it back to 8 players/3 rounds

something to throw some life back into it

Actually I think the NBA has instituted a policy that the players in the dunk contest have to be third year players or younger.

Its a way to expose new talent.

So I dont think Lebron is technically eligible anymore after this year, but Im fairly certain theyd lift that policy for him...

^^^I like that

They say the dunk contest is dead, but I disagree. They just dont get anybody in it. Imagine if they got Kobe, Lebron, D-Wade, and a few of the mad athletic kids like Nate Robinson. Everyone would watch that shit. I dont care if the dunks are the same every year. If it was with the games most exciting players, the dunks would get better eventually just so players could out-do the best of the best.

the winner gets $35,000

so it's not that much incentive

Wilbon said the dunk contest was dead and they needed to get rid of it

and mentioned the need of a USA vs. the World All-Star Game instead of East vs. West

which is a horrible idea, but that's another thread

I still look forward to this more than the game itself

oh and building on what rally said

it's called the Sprite RISING STARS Slam Dunk Contest now

but even if Lebron knew that, he should have done it before he was ineligible

i make it a point every year to watch the dunk contest regardless of whos in it. its always entertaining and fun to watch. you're garunteed at least once to see something u never saw before.

as far as this year, although josh smith was incredible last year, i gotta go w/ my boy 'dre (or IGGY as he is referred to from time to time) to bring the title to philadelphia. and if K-squared is gonna be in the 3-pt. shootout again, philly just might take both crowns.

You guys have the biggest hang up on Kobe Bryant. Seriously, you would have thought it was your girlfriend he fucked or something. Kobe dominated the dunk contest ten years ago. Why the fuck would he need to enter it now? He's already won three rings, what the fuck does he need to prove?

All the people talking shit about the dunk contest need to watch it tonite and then shut the fuck up about how its not good anymore.

Josh Smith is an amazing dunker.

Nate Robinson is 5'9 and can do dunks that are ten times sicker than anything Spud Webb did 20 years ago.

Im betting on Nate Robinson to win it because short people's dunks look cooler. Hoping to get 5/2 odds or so...

I dont think Warrick really has a good shot...he's great at dunking in traffic but he doesnt strike me as being made for a contest

Attn: everybody complaining about the participants

I hear you...I'd love to see Lebron and Vince and all them...but last year's contest was off the chain...from Nash's soccer alley oop to Amare, or all of Josh Smith's dunks...just give it a chance you racists

One of the coolest dunks Ive ever seen was done by Darvin Ham.

I cant even explain it... he like pinned the ball against the backboard, completely stopped... then spun in mid-air and dunked it...

the judges gave him like a 35... i coudlnt believe it... If the judges had rightfully given it a 50, you woulda seen this dunk 100 times by now...

it's jsut cause he was a no-name so he got no love...
