If I were absolutely forced to genocide one race... it would be black people, but only because of their wiry hair. And if I were allowed to limit it to a continent, I would choose Africa.

Behind black people, I would choose white people (and throw in the native indians with them too, since they're such a small group as it is), and limit it to the US, if I could. Next would be the middle-easterners. Everyone left would be pretty much a toss-up, except the Japanese, because I would be okay with the Japanese ruling the world.

there is no genetic evidence or support for a concept of race.

there is not one single characteristic, trait or gene, that is common to all members of any supposed "race".

for any charactaristic or gene that you as an example for any so-called "race", there will be members in that group who do not have it, and there will be members of some other different "race" who also have it.

what you have is frequencies of alleles that are statistically more predominant in some groups than others, but these are evolutionary artifacts of environmental conditions.

the best you can come up with to support race, is "ethnicity", and this is purely based on culture, language, environment, religion, location, and self-identification.

furthermore, as far as animal species go, humans are among teh most genetically homogenous species. we have very little genetic variance as a species. and the most genetic variances that we DO have within our species, are actually found WITHIN members of the same supposed "race"

as another point, just about all of the superficial physical traits are completely independant of each other. there is no genetic linkage between hair color, hair texture, eye color, eye shape, facial bone structure. all of these are completely independant of each other and any one can vary without affecting another.

the fact that some of these alleles are often seen together, statistically tending towards some groupings rather than another, is purely due to environmenal conditions (locationality of mating)

race only exists in the collective mind of society.

then you have absolutely no zoological or taxonomical basis on which to subdivide a species into lower divisions.

what you do have is a psychological desire to categorize, so you use superficial environmenally-derived trends -- some of which are themselves false -- to satisfy this irrational need.

and i can find supposed "blacks" with lighter skin than some "whites". not to mention huge numbers of "whites" with big broad, flat noses and compare them to nations-full of "blacks" with thin angular facial features.

as far as white and black "races" go, every human has exactly the same gene for skin pigmentation. the difference is the expression of the gene: those people with an ancestral history from the equatorial regions produce more melanin than those from temperate or sub-artic climates. and the particular expression of the "melanin" gene is completely unrelated and unlinked to EVERY other physical allele

What schmoe is saying though is that (currently...) there is no way to look at someone's genes, and determine what race they are. We can go by skin color now, but even that's only useful to a limited degree. On top of that, what "threshold" of blackness determines a white from a non-white? The biggest reason now that current conventions of race hold up somewhat reasonably well is because people for the most part only are screwing people who are close to them racially. But, if a black guy and a white girl have a kid, they could have a daughter that has black skin, but with "white people" hair (by that, I mean not the hard, stiff hair that black people often have). What "race" is that person? If you were to take a genetic profile of the parents, the most you could say is one was black, one what white, and they have different ancestors geographically, but those are fairly superficial classifications.
