The season starts with the Daytona 500 and its associated events, period.

It takes place well into the calendar year, and the last event of the season is well before the end of the calendar year.

Preseason contests in other sports are not part of the season (hence the, *gasp*, "pre"), and as such, off-season personnel changes and sponsor/manufacturer moves are not part of the Cup season.

As a member of a family that has been in the racing business for over 30 years, I'll kindly ask you to GTFO.

erice...been to more, you are not old enough to have been to more than me(don’t make me go out and buy a digital camera so I can show you every ticket stub that I have....and every autograph)....real NASCAR fans start talking about NASCAR right after the season is over, thus it never ends....TWW is always out to prove some one wrong....well guys, you can't look this up....and NASCAR used to be year round because there were a lot more short track races.....you are all wrong. Technically it doesn't start until next week......but real fans....ones that were going to races before NASCAR got famous.....anticipate it year round....they talk about the changes (silly season) at the end of the 2005 season because it directly effects the 2006 season. So I fucking restate **Official 2005-2006 NASCAR thread** , any predictions? How do you think the team switch in 2005 with Bobby Labonte will effect the 2006 season?

since 1990, i have been to EVERY nextel cup race at lowes, richmond, rockingham, bristol, darlington, and the old north wilkesboro speedway, not to mention the brickyard 400 3 times, and the daytona 500 twice.

what can i say, i have connections

I am hoping Denny Hamlin has a great rookie season, I had the distinction of meeting this very nice gentleman 3 years ago when he was racing on the short tracks of Southampton Motor Speedway, but other then that, Jeff Gordon has got to be the favorite.

erice.....thanks for making a prediction...I am not padding my ego...I was going to races in the 80s....before you were born ( I was a kid), I’m not a bullshitter..every Rockingham(most of the time in the infield), Lowes, Darlington since 1986. Well I missed a few here and there from 99-05 because I was at state. Daytona 500 once....pepsi 400 3 times....been to Michigan 2 times...Pocono one ( long story with that one) Indy 3 times, North Wilkesboro 2 times, hickory, Atlanta before the track modifications and after, Talladega, New Hampshire once, Richmond 3 times, martinsville 3 times, bristol once.
even though I hate to agree....#24 will have a better season(not hard after last year), I just don't want him to win the championship lol.

hey erice, i used to watch Denny Hamlin race at South Boston Motor Speedway over the summer 2 years back. He used to own that track. Look out for Timothy Peters too(i think hes running trucks now). Him and Hamlin used to battle it out
