On the syllabus it says the attendance is required, but does anyone know how much it hurts you if you miss class? do you get 3 days to miss or what? 2/10/2006 12:22:31 AM |

i had this class a year ago. and i don't think it was ever really indicated how much you were penalized for missing...i would guess maybe the difference between a 90 being an a- or b+ or something. i'm not sure though. however, i recommend going to class because his tests are very closely related to his lectures...and i thought they were pretty interesting 2/10/2006 1:11:16 AM |

i thought they were easy. straightforward atleast. the IDs are the things he has written on the board before class. the essays are pretty obvious...i.e. the major events/issues you spent the most time on. and the map...well, its a map that you fill in. either you can do it or you can't. 2/10/2006 12:20:41 PM |

yeah, if you read the book can you do well on his tests or do you need the lectures a lot? 2/10/2006 12:21:45 PM |

i don't know about that. i never really read the book. i would suggest just going to classes and taking notes during the lecture and studying them to prepare for the test. the thing about not going to class, besides his attendance policy which is questionable, is that you don't get the ID terms that he puts on the board, or get to see what things he focuses on more than the rest. and i seem to remember there being some ID terms listed on the board that were not in the book. 2/10/2006 12:55:01 PM |
