dude, who the fuck said they can outdo you?

I said there's no way you can max out the leg press machine doing a PROPER PRESS.

The most I've ever max'ed with was about 825 and that was 5 years ago. I'd be lucky to push up 500 now.

yeah I could somewhat move 720 back a few years ago (this was before I fucked my knee up)
wasn't pretty, but I got the weight up from stationary (^yep, wasn't anything close to a proper press)

i wonder what i could do now, but i'm afraid to max out cuz my knee is another accident away from me never walking properly again

^^^yep, you should never do single rep maxing. Mine was set in high school, goddamn football.

^^^^anything over about 500 and you should be wearing full knee wraps anyway

^^Fuck you. I've been a big beefy guy. All it got me was a bigger food bill and more long term health risks.

What does it prove that you can lift X amount of weight in X position? It's all fucking masterbation dude.

I fucked my right knee up in a car accident, it's funny because on one hand the joint is more limber, but it's also sorta creaky too, and makes sounds whenever I swing it from a sitting position

if anything happens to my right knee i'm fucked, doubly so cuz I'm 6'5" and it's mostly legs

[Edited on February 10, 2006 at 3:10 AM. Reason : i'm also a left-footed kicker and will never be able to plant properly again.]

look, the fact of the matter is, you are trying to start a pissing contest, and nobody really gives a fuck what you can do for a one rep max on leg press since only dumbasses to that these days due to the high degree of danger.

^^^I know the feeling. I have no cartilage in my right knee. Makes all kinds of fucked up sounds every now and then.

^its not so much dangerous as just pointless.

no, i've been lifting for years and i can tell you that a high weight one rep max is dangerous and risky. i've seen guys one rep maxing like 2400 lbs, and seen their knees just BUCKLE and bam, their professional weight lifting career is over. (and these are PROFESSIONALS)

^^if you know what you are doing and have attentive and good spotters, it's really not dangerous.

Incidents like that are extreeemely rare, both because there are very few people who attempt weights that high, and because most of the guys who do know their own limits.

^you are completely wrong. i've seen people with perfect form that have done it for their whole lives have their knees just give out.

I will bet money that nobody on here can load that sled with all that it will hold and then do even one single properly executed repetition. The most I ever do is 7 plates on each side for 4-5 reps, and I haven't done that in a while...being going with higher reps (8-10). Regardless, there was room for a helluva lot more weight on there...I mean, think about how much you can stack in the middle...and let's not even think about using 75 or 100 lb plates!

and yes, why do a 1RM on a leg press? I mean, a squat/benchpress/deadlift/clean/etc, maybe, but 1RM on a leg press is pointless.

and yeah, it is just kinda masturbatory...although there's nothing wrong with that, per se...it's just that there is no practical reason to 1RM a leg press because it's a 1RM, and there is no competition/"masturbatory" reason to do it, because it's a leg press.

and yes, if you continually work with huge weights and low reps, your joints will eventually take a beating from it.

i've done 1000+ the sled honestly...ten times and my knees went significanly past 90 degrees.

any cycleist/soccer player will pwn a leg press.

thats all the one @ my gym could hold 90 45s on each side and then 2 25s on the little weight stubs

in like 8th grade we were leg pressing 700-800 pounds

i'd guess someone who kept that up could do anywhere from 1400-1700 now
