i have a passport 8500 x50 radar detector. after about 2 weeks i plugged it in, it powered on and then cut off and hasn't come on since. i know its not the outlet in my car and i don't want to pay the shipping to send it back to the company. do these things have fuses that can blow or anything like that that can be replaced at radio shack or somethin

Have you tried it in another car yet?

I dont think the detector would have a fuse in it, maybe the power cable though.

I'd check that cable first, if your only other option is cracking the detector open to look for a fuse.

buy one, try it, then return it if it's not the problem.

Hell, test it in the parking lot, it will only take 5 seconds.
