8-4 would be incredible next year...

Assuming that we go 4-0 or 3-1 in the OOC games, that would require an 0-8 or 1-7 ACC record. Not likely.

Sep 2 Appalachian State
Sep 9 Akron
Sep 16 at Southern Mississippi
Sep 23 Boston College
Oct 5 Florida State
Oct 14 Wake Forest
Oct 21 at Maryland
Oct 28 at Virginia
Nov 4 Georgia Tech
Nov 11 at Clemson
Nov 18 at North Carolina
Nov 25 East Carolina

I say we run the table on the OOC games and go at least 3-5 in the ACC. 7-5 or 8-4 is most likely.

not unthinkable with 4 ooc games per team...

[Edited on February 14, 2006 at 8:44 AM. Reason : i'm not entirely sure we win at S.Miss, but tha'ts based on reputation, not knowledge of them]

Seems likely that we'll win one game we shouldn't so I'll go with 5-7.

Chuck Amato is a legend. Someone build a statue of this guy before he gets snatched away by a real D-1 program.

i just want to mention that this guy has both us and fsu winning that game...
he, apparently, is either indecisive or just wants to paint a terribly positive picture of the acc...
i thought most season predictors tried to predict one result for each game...

the thing is bullshit. it has Duke winning three games. Not gonna happen. BUT if you take the Duke W's and transfer across the board, we will be 5-7. more realistic...

yeah this guy is def. not credible ... you can't pick the two teams to win the same game ... i mean last time I checked that was pretty much impossible

Yeah this is a terrible site. Does anyone here actually think we'll start 6-0 and 7-1? If so, we need to talk about some wagering.

I'm giving us an optimistic 8-4

we could drop one to BC and we could win one at SoMiss

even if i am "fooling myself", i don't think we'll lose to Carolina and Wake

^ I really don't think we'll beat BC or Maryland. We barely beat Maryland the last two years and we had superior talent. Now that we have no one on D, I don't see how we could win at their place.

i think roughly 90% of our poor playing was nurture, not nature. we had tremendous physical talent out there last year.

saying we'll go 8-4 is a bet on Amato maturing as a coach, and passing on the right focus to his players

Marcus went 5-1 despite making n00b-like mistakes. him not making those errors will be offset somewhat by the defensive studs we lose

+ Andre Brown is still here. according to a former NFL O-lineman I work for, "we have a pretty damn good O-Line even without Morris"

Last year the best strategy was to keep the offense out there so that the defense rests up. Stone, because he was willing and able to throw for more than 5 yards (even if it ended in a pick), opened up the running game, and thus changed the dynamic of the offense.

look for the offense to click a little more this year. i'm not saying Stone is the second Rivers--far from it. he made lousy plays in the W. Kentucky game, and then went 5-1 when given the helm. with the right nurture (which he should've been getting instead of Davis), he can step up and be a part of a well balanced offense.

obviously this post is a bit kool-aid flavored, but i think its warranted. i am a bit of a contrarian. i love the fact the the bear market is out screaming about how we will blow next year. when the bulls were out there pushing kool-aid in full effect, i tend to temper my enthusiasm.

Yeah, wtf? We are going over a month with only 1 home game...that schedule is basically designed for a late season collapse? Arent there basic guidelines to schedule making to make sure a team isnt playing 4 road games out of 5? I cant believe it would have been hard to switch a few games around.

after going to Maryland 2 years ago, I think we're better off playing them in Maryland. They don't have a home field advantage, and there isn't the same tense feeling as our home games.

We won games last year by our defense simply dominating opponents.

Our defense is gonna suck next year, that is a given. They will get run all over. They will get passed all over. They will give up first downs, they will give up touchdowns, they will commit penalties, they will get worked at the line of scrimmage, they will blow assignments, they will blow period.

Our offense stunk with Stone in there sans a few huge runs. Our o-line gets worse, our WR's are all unproven, our QB cant read defenses, has happy feet, is a wigger, and plays like a deer in headlights.

Our head coach is a spectacle. He cant count the score (FG's when we're down 7, remember VT?), he cant instill discipline, he chases off assistant coaches, his "jokes" really dont make that much sense. Any faith in this guy is probably misguided.

That should temper any enthusiasm right there.

6-6. Unless the offense pulls something out of their collective asses we're fucked. The defense was the only thing keeping us in games last year. Late game picks and sacks saved our asses more than once.

I hate the new conference BTW. Get rid of two OOC games and bring back the round robin. Sure some team would have a losing record and not go to the Tank and Tummy bowl, but the conference would be stronger as a whole.

Wonder what the spread will be on the AppState game? Pack -27?

9-3 = Peach Bowl vs. Alabama

@ Maryland could go either way, so maybe 8-4. I plan on making the Clemson trip, so it'd be nice to pull off an upset down there (they will be loaded this year, atleast, they should be loaded).

How the hell are we going to do better next year the this year

When we lose our entire defense?

You know, the one that let us marginally beat shitty teams.
