I took this photo last Friday night in Manhattan. I have no idea what car this is, some new Dodge crossover SUV is what it looks like.

maybe...I've heard the name, but I haven't seen any photos.
Oh, and this car had Michigan manufacturer plates. 2/17/2006 7:55:26 PM |

new dodge caliber, not an suv, more of a toyota matrix kind of vehicle, even though it will have awd optional. 2/17/2006 8:05:52 PM |

It is the replacement for the Neon. The Neon is getting shitcanned so thoroughly that the name is being dropped. This thing actually starts off CHEAPER than the Neon does by like 1500 bucks I think. Of course the AWD hatchback is not going to be that cheap, and I'm sure neither will the SRT-4 FWD version. One question, could you get the SRT-4 turbo'd motor mated with the AWD wagon setup? A 300 hp AWD Pontiac Vibe/Toyota Matrix style hatch would be pretty fucking sick. 2/17/2006 9:32:38 PM |

^^word is that the caliber is intentionally going to be kept fwd b/c the new platfom is shared with jeep, for the compass and patriot, both of which will be mild-4wds, but the compass will be almost badge-engineered compared to the caliber, whereas the patriot will have slightly less "soft-roader" components. Of course, both will be jeeps for people who can afford a wrangler but are interested in posing in a jeep rather than actually driving a self-respecting jeep. lol, check that out, I just defended a car with TWO solid axles. crazy. I must not talk about off-rdrs enough. But expect the 4wd thing to be strictly a jeep thing to keep buyers from drifting between brands. I could see them offering it on the srt4 caliber if demand warrants it after a year or so.... if not, I bet there'll be srt4 compass and patriot. 2/18/2006 2:56:53 AM |

But the Caliber will have an AWD version. The R/T version will be AWD and have a CVT tranny and the 2.4L engine. I just would hope they'd use this drivetrain on the SRT-4. 2/18/2006 7:45:05 AM |
