ive tried a ton of times to burn dvds and play them on my dvd player. they always seemed to have errors. either didnt load, or skipped around, or froze. i usually burn ISO files. anyways, i got a portable dvd player so i figured id try again, that maybe it was the dvd player....but it does the same shit. however i just tried the dvd in my computer and it worked fine. are both my dvd players not capable of playing recorded dvds, or am i just burning improperly.

some cheaper (or older) dvd players only play dvd-rom format dvds instead of the newer dvd+/-r dvds...change the bitsetting on your dvd burner (either in burning software or using your manufacturer's software)

there's a nifty little utility that works with most dvd burners, but i can't remember the name off the top of my head...if i find it, i'll post it

this isn't actually the prog i was thinking of, but it might work:

i'll see if i can find the other prog that i like better...do you have nero (or another burning program) open while you're trying to use the bitsetter? if so, close out everything and then run the bitsetter

my only suggestion would be to burn it at a much slower rate...i burn at 2x most of the time...NEVER had a problem with a disc not reading or skipping.

I use dvdshrink to rip a disc to an ISO, then DVD Decrypter to burn it.

What kind of burner do you have? Is there anything online about the drive? Firmware updates, etc.?

firmware is code that is stored on your drive as far as I know. How the drive knows what to do kinda.

At the bottom is the link for firmware for your burner, the SHOW-812s
