lets say you were applying to grad school in, say, biology, and you had pretty good grades.

you cant go to state, grad schools dont like you to have already been in their undergrad program.

if you dont consider going to unc for school just b/c theyre our rival (or even worse, b/c youre buying the whole notion that its all gay people), youre only cheating yourself and making yourself look stupid.

same goes for duke. i hate them, but im sure as hell applying there if i decide to try to get a masters in public admin.

My problem with UNC does not stem from their sexual preference. I could really care less about that, I just was talking shit because I knew it would get on some closet Walmart Nation member's skin. My problem has to do with their completely unfounded arrogance and elitism. If UNC is a "public ivy" school, then it's poison ivy. The only reason they get all the press and accolades is because they EDUCATED the press.

UNC was not very good at basketball really until the 1960's. The "national championship" they claim in 1924 was voted upon by the Helms Foundation, a southern group of journalists. UNC did not play any of the teams in the northern U.S., who could have easily beaten them and far more deserved to be called National Champions.

NC State regularly owned UNC up until 6 years into Dean Smith's tenure at UNC. Even during that time, Sloan and Valvano were increasingly competetive. The two national championships that Smith won (1984 and 1992 I believe) were products of the other teams mistakes, not UNC talent. State won the 1983 National Championship on a heads up play by Lorenzo Charles. Until Valvano's career ended (under a controversy that could have easily been traced back to UNC), NC State was better.
