i can't get the program to connect, and i'm not running any firewalls or anything that should conflict with it. all my settings are correct, but it still wont connect. anyone know what i should try?

what client are you using? i was using frostwire on ubuntu and it requires java and a java update fixed it.

figured it out, thanks for the suggestions though...

and this isnt for movies or music or anything, i still buy all my music (which is one reason i have no savings)

^^Because you can't preview EVERY song available on iTunes and nearly every other music service. Oh, wait.

There isn't ONE single LEGAL reason to still be using Limewire/DC/Kazaa/et al. If it's a legal P2P use, you would be using bittorrent.

^ Not true. I got a fair amount of freeware/shareware off limewire way back when i bothered with it.

Besides, does this look like soapbox to you? No, it's a technial issue.

^because you cant get freeware/shareware easier and faster off of say, DOWNLOAD.COM, FILESHACK, FILEPLANET, SOURCEFORGE or FRESHMEAT?
