I see ads for 17" and 19" flat panel monitors under $200 but they're not brand names I recognize. Are they likely to be decent or do quality LCD screens cost a lot more? 2/23/2006 1:38:26 PM |

In the technology and electronics field, the rule still stands.
You get what you pay for.
Look for a deal on your favorite deal site for a Dell LCD, they're rock solid from what I've seen. Relatively cheap, too. 2/23/2006 1:43:28 PM |

Well, when you factor in the ability to say "There aren't any real malicious threats to my OS"
you get a bit more than if you'd bought a windows box.
btw, im far from a mac-fanboy. I just speak the truth.

yea but i dont have problems with spyware and viruses. and thats more subjective
i was refering the the hardware, and in particular LCDs.
last time i checked apple's 20in lcd was not as good an had fewer features than Dells. And the apple one was 2x the price. 2/23/2006 3:26:42 PM |

In that case, it's most likely true.
Although AppleCare might be x2 as helpful with returns and support than Dell. I haven't had any experience with'em. I know dell can be a pain in the ass for the simple fact that you're talking to an outsourced help desk. 2/23/2006 3:39:33 PM |

Thanks for the suggestions.
I have a friend who speaks Hindi so Dell might be OK. 2/23/2006 10:54:10 PM |

^^that's not so true these days there are plenty of deals out there with so few manufacturers out there you can get a great lcd for cheap. i'm typing on my 19" 8ms rosewill lcd that's probaly a rebadged viewsonic (since it uses like 4of their patened technologies) after rebate i would have gotten it for $235 which is tough to beat for a 19" lcd 8ms and dvi input. 2/24/2006 3:15:47 AM |
