That's a comparison of the 128 mb and 256 mb models of the 9800 Pro. Which is not at all what this guy was asking. 2/23/2006 2:31:47 PM |

This article is basically saying a 256MB is useless because no games are out that can take advantage of the technology. 2/23/2006 2:39:20 PM |

There ya go .
EDIT: Ahh i see now. hmm I'd go with the higher ram to be honest. On board memory makes a difference in higher end games. Since their gpixles/sec just isn't that much different.
Now mind you this is ATI brand 9800 and 9800 pro. Other manufacturers can have vastly different specs.

i have a sapphire 9800pro 128mb in my other computer and it vastly outperforms an ati 9600pro 256mb. can't say anything about a 9800 256mb though, sorry. 2/24/2006 7:54:54 AM |

most games still do not index all of video ram before diving into system ram and filling that up. bf2 is one of the most notorious, wow does this also. get the fastest cored card you can afford and spend the extra money on more ram 2/24/2006 9:26:30 AM |

i would go with the 9800 256mb replace the stock fan w. a artic silencer , add rasm sinks and overclock it past 9800 pro speeds. 2/24/2006 5:33:43 PM |

heh yeah, but if you don't have a massively powerful card it'll take forever to navigate the menu system to shut off the graphical effects that will quite possibly be turned on by default 2/24/2006 8:42:28 PM |

Basic question will be how many pipes do they both have? Clock and memory speeds can be OCed but pipes are there or not there.
I don't feel like looking it up, but go from there. 2/24/2006 9:14:03 PM |
