I don't watch a lot of NBA anymore, but every now and then. Man, Kobe is unreal. I know---duh. I just find it so amazing how different Kobe and Jordan are. Jordan spent his first 5 years or so dominating a shitty team, wishing he had a supporting cast and great coach so he didn't have to do all the work. So he could compete for, and win championships. Kobe has a great situation. Great coach in Phil, great center in Shaq, and championships. So, he drives everyone away so that he can score 50 every night and his team can be mediocre. You've got to think Phil regrets coming back to this...although I never, ever count Phil out. 2/25/2006 12:59:58 AM |

while i realize the point that you are trying to get across, the reality of the Jordan situation was that he WASN'T wishing he had a better supporting cast, trust me, he would have loved to do it all by himself. It wasnt until they started making the playoffs and losing with Phil and Scottie that he realized that he needed to trust his teammates and believe that they would make shots.
I can assure you that if Jordan could have won championships with the likes of Charles Oakley and Orlando Woolridge with Doug Collins at the helm, and jordan taking 35-45 shots a night, he would have loved it.
i do agree with the principle of this thread though.

I generally do as well, but if you reverse the roles and Jordan started out with players, He would have wizened up quicker than Kobe, and he without a doubt would not have ran Shaq out of town 2/25/2006 10:46:37 AM |

Marion? Diaw? certainly not Nash or tim Thomas...probably Barbosa who will get torched. 5/4/2006 10:23:58 PM |

Kobe is a shitty passer, has bad shot selection, and turns it over too much.
Lebron's game is much more polished, despite having only been in the league 3 years. 5/4/2006 10:33:32 PM |

Kobe Bryant does not push his team away, he took 3 shots the first quarter, but when it comes down to the fourth and overtime, who is he supposed to give it to? Smush Parker played one of the worst games I have seen in a long time, Lamar is not clutch at all, and Walton just doesn't seem to have it late in games either. I think the problem last night was on defense. The Lakers switched every screen so that either Smush was on Shawn Marion and he would power down low and get his finger roll or Nash would have Kwame on him and I can't tell you how many times he held the ball for 3 seconds, half faked a drive and pulled up for a litte jumper, it had to have happened 6 times. Oh, the ball must have had butter on it because the Lakers turned it over way to many times. The key for the Lakers in game 7 will be to limit the amount the Suns get from the line, the supporting cast has to score just enough, and they have to figure out how not to switch every screen. 5/5/2006 1:45:43 PM |

I kinda want the Lakers to win because Kobe is really blossoming into a great player and is more fun to watch since he's distributing the ball. 5/6/2006 11:14:26 AM |

I dont really care who wins cause the spurs are coming out but it would very very interesting to watch a hallway series. I think Kobe would feed off the chance to crush the clippers, even though everyone knows the dominant in LA. 5/6/2006 11:19:28 AM |

This is a big problem for the Lakers, prob. bigger than you'd think. I posted this in the playoffs thread:
Quote : | "wtf is up with the Lakers' inbounding a made shot? Example:
Walton catches ball from under hoop, passes to Parker
Parker takes 3-4 dribbles, passes to Odom
Odom barely beats the 8-second violation, stands 35 ft away from the goal, passes it back to Parker
That chews up 9-13 seconds of the shot clock, and they wonder why they rushed so many shots our of the half-court offense." |
They should at least get the ball over the line more quickly and efficiently - this would give them more time to use direct dribble entry to the post, screens, etc. That little pass back they do does not count as moving the ball in the offense, and Phil Jackson should be giving both of them hell for it. It's like neither of them wanted to run the offense.5/6/2006 6:46:17 PM |

Other than the big three in game 4, Parker hasn't done shit this series. He's been pretty dissapointing. It seems everyone on the Lakers have stepped up a little except for him. 5/6/2006 7:10:19 PM |
