3 points were "officially scored" in the first half points for a jumper Cam put up with at least one foot on the line before he jumped

we should have lost by 1

both were on the line. but wait, atsur or whoever was in bounds in that play that they called out of bounds in front of the bc bench so that evens it up.

on an out of bounds and the back court violation?

well i mean on this note Bethel never stepped out of bounds and it should have been our ball late in regulation with a 3 point lead.

In this case, JJ Redick should have a few less points on his career total because his foot has been on the line at least twice this year when the refs called it a 3.

we also had fouls called our way (as it should be at home) most of the time. on the road....this would have been a 10pt loss.

i don't agree with the call

but refs don't have the luxury of slow motion

so i understand why the call was made the way it was but i don't agree with the call

Please take note that the referee STANDING directly beside the play was NOT the one who called Bethel out of bounds.

It was the referee on the OTHER side of the court who came flying over and called him out of bounds.

Horrible call, probably cost us the game.

the ref shown in that picture was the worst ref I've ever seen, worse than Larry David/Davis/whatever his name is

he was blowing calls allll game

tell me about it, he just stood there as BC clearly had a back court violation

But regardless of the shitty no calls when we were getting hacked, we still had plenty of chances to win. We'd get some momentum going and then turn it over on 2 or 3 stupid plays in a row and give it away. Or we'd make stupid end game plays. Having Ced at the key trying to get a back door cut that has only worked once all game? WTF? Drive the lane.

^^^I would venture to say it was the game-changer, because it gave BC the ball back, and they hit a 3 on the play.

This may have been mentioned already but how many team fouls do you get before going to a 1-1. At the end of the first half we got fouled and I could have sworn we had already shot a 1-1 but instead of free throws they made us take the ball out of bounds. Can someone clear this up?

BC had 7 team fouls at the time

I don't remember the situation, but if it's a "player control foul", then free throws are not shot. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe all that entails is that the foul is committed by the player who has possession of the ball...?

It did cost us the game because ugly ass Marshall knocked down a three a few seconds later. Instead of being up four with the ball with under 3 to play, they hit a three to make it a one point game with 3 minutes to play.

Thats the thing about sports though, you can never afford to put yourself in position where one bad call or lucky shot can beat you.

Go out there and win by a convincing margin, and one call doesnt beat you.

whatever happened to refs. having "zones" of the court they are responsible for. seen similar incidents occur quite frequently this year. basically all acc refs need to go back to some clinics to learn the proper mechanics imo.

Is it just dawning on you people that the referees SUCK!!! I've been talking about the refs sucking it up even in games we win, and even in games where we aren't even playing. No one listens, NO ONE!

Something has to be done about the officiating all OVER the conference!

Everyone knows they suck. I only argue with you over the whole 'conspiracy' bullshit. It's no secret that the ACC refs are some of the most horribly inconsistent in the world. They just suck balls equally..

Consider it a margin of error.

It either works in your favor or doesn't.

But if you beat the spread by enough, it makes NO difference.

But conspiracy also requires trying to undermine or subvert an established entity. The ACC can't conspire against itself, because it has already established itself to be this way. Therefore, there can be no conspiracy.

conspiracy just means multiple people plotting to commit a crime, that's all. not to get pissy, but you should learn what a word means before you use it.

Not to get pissy, but I NEVER CALLED IT A CONSPIRACY!!!!!

Someone else brought it up, and I simply rejected the idea. So the burden of proof is on the person that called it a conspiracy. Also, when's the last time you saw a conspiracy take place behind OPEN DOORS!!!!! I know what the word means.... Thank you Wordly Wise.

I totally agree with this comment. This is the equivalent of a football referee coming in from the backside of the play to call a player down when the ref on the frontside of the play called touchdown. Totally a bad call made by an official who didn't have the view.

Thanks, that the second time I have heard that I am clever today. The first time, my boss said it after I came up with a solution to a design problem we had....

I got to disagree. I'm not trying to be difficult.. I'm really not. However, in sports it is often times necessary for someone farther away to make the call. Look no further then Game 6 of the 2004 ALCS. If the farthest away has the best view then they HAVE to make the call. If this wasn't the case the Yanks would have UNFAIRLY won.. This goes for ALL sports IMHO..

Turns out this time they fucked up but that shouldn't preclude them from ever making calls.

But that wasn't his point. Look at the picture and then read his comment. Obviously the official standing there wasn't the one who made the call, but he did have the best view (other than the camera).

^^ It seems fishy to me that the referee standing beside Bethel and blatantly looking at the action ruled Bethel in bounds.

And the referee on the OTHER SIDE OF THE COURT, decided to rule Bethel out of bounds.

Then we see a replay, and what do you know he was in by a foot.

A fucking foot.

That's horrible officiating.

the official that was on the play had 4 players scrambling in front of him and a loose ball....i doubt he was even looking at bethel's foot.....the official who came in from the trail position saw bethel touch the ball with what he saw as a foot out of bounds....yes by replay he was wrong....but in that situation officials are looking for an easy way out....they are trying to not call a foul or jump ball

just look at how often they call a walk in a borderline block / charge situation
